🌈 Just me hanging out in my new memade PJs and feeling snuggly warm this weekend! I made these at the beginning of March and the fabric pairing was a happy accident. The pattern is Simplicity #s3971 which is an older pattern that I bought at my local library for 25 cents. The fabric is Super Snuggle flannel from @joann_stores that I bought last year in anticipation of some type of PJs. I thought 4 yards would be enough but didn’t realize that it was only 45” wide. 🤦‍♀️ I had to chop off some of the length of the top and bring in the width of the sleeves to make it fit. Then I had the collar, button placket, and sleeve cuffs leftover, so I found a coordinating fabric at Joann’s and pieced it all together. My PJ bottoms are coming along… so far it looks like they are going to have a VERY high waist and a VERY low slung crutch! I cut a straight size small based on the measurements (which I have to admit did my head in as I am not a small anything!!). The pattern is #s3971 I need to try them on and figure out if I need to cut some off the top, but it is 27° C and 95% humidity so that it’s not going to happen today! I had not considered this problem when I decided to make winter pyjamas in summer! 🙃☀️🙃 But I am rather pleased with my flat-felled side seams. Elsewhere I have done my pseudo-overlocking trick. Gum nut baby PJ’s 😍 On my last trip to Oz I was loving all the Aussie-themed PJs in #peteralexander so when I saw this amazing #maygibbs fabric in @spotlightstores I knew I had to make some!! I used #simplicitypatterns #3971 which is a unisex pattern so this pattern is great for achieving an oversized look (I’m a size 10 and the size S was very generous, I took mine in a few inches). I really do need to try and draft a pattern from my own measurements. PJ bottoms are done! I haven’t made pyjamas since junior high sewing class! Total blast from the past! Even though I cut a size small they are HUGE!! Makes you wonder what the actual small people do? I used an extra wide elastic, but the crutch is still very very low slung. However this may prove to be very comfy for sleeping??? I will have to wait until winter to give them a test drive! 💤💤💤 And they are nice and long! I actually cut the length to a size large as all of my pyjamas, even the ones supposed to fit men, are always too short. So I ended up patching the missing bit on the leg and it is a bit of orange fun! Monkey approves! I sewed a non-functioning button to the front just so it is super easy to tell which way around they go!
