I love this dress! The sweetheart neckline, the V waistline, and pockets (which I added myself; it’s not part of the original pattern)! It’s McCall’s 8209 made with a vintage fabric. Still needs to be hemmed- this is just a try-on, and I’ve been working on it sporadically for a month or so, so it’s nice to see it almost finished! ….. Happy Easter! I’m so happy I was able to make these 2 dresses for my daughter and I to celebrate Easter. It was truly a labor of love but one essential skill I’ve gained through sewing is PATIENCE🤦🏾‍♀️… I ‘snatched’ this beautiful fabric from my mum’s large stash and settled on these 2 patterns that have been on my todo list to sew for a while. Some days, you get a lot of seams sewn. Some days, you spend your spoons on a trip to Joann’s for a thread and pattern sale and a trip to the thrift store for a mini notions haul! I did a pretty fair job keeping those curved narrow hems even on both sides of the apron in spite of my tired fingers! And at buy 3 get 3 free, I added some some fun threads to my collection for sewing, quilting, and hand sewing. What’s your “must buy” when you see it at the thrift store? Have you tried either of these patterns yet? They go up to B54, W49, H56 so I’m going to give them a try since the finished garment bust measurement is 57.5 in. I’m around B51, W48, H60. How many roses are too many roses?! 🌹 My latest make and by far my favourite ever, yep I'm claiming this again 😂 This pattern was a total wildcard, I was not expecting to like it this much! The fit is amazing (straight size 10 with no mods, whattt!) apart from the back which I hacked to have a panel of elastic channels out of pure laziness. Wedding dress sewing has me wanting easy breezy sewing with minimal fitting and fastenings! I kind of wish I'd got more of this fabric and saved it for bridesmaid dresses though it's utterly magical. A wee preview of the top of my jumpsuit for wedding season. Having fun with McCall's #M8209 . I'm doing view C and am unsure if I'm going to put the elastic in the bottom hem of the sleeve. I'll decide when I can try it on. I also will probably have to tighten the elastic in the shoulders.
