I finished this bridal gown yesterday! Well, I have a few more hand stitches and the hem to complete, but that will come after the upcoming model fitting for the fashion show. I love how she turned out! Full disclosure: I used a commercial sewing pattern, McCalls 7569, lace and lining fabric from Joann Fabrics, yet used some couture sewing techniques, a center back zipper, interior structure and added additional layers of material for a finer finish to the pattern. @lailaaa_p.21 is still talking about the dance so I think it's safe to say she had good time. Her dress is McCall's 7569. I'll post about process post and the few changes I made. We bought the pattern and dress on a Friday. Cut it out on Sunday and sewed a little bit each night til it was done the next Friday. Almost forgot she needed a mask so whipped that up Saturday morning. Im so glad that despite the heels making her 6 feet tall, she got them anyway. I want her to be proud of her height. 1. Halter top maxi dress ✍️ synthetic satin fabric from @fabmoinc 2. Pattern: #m7569 had to adapt it for a non-stretch fabric: adding invisible zipper, adjusting neckline and back seams 3. Used invisible thread for hem stitching 🧵 4. Don’t have a serger yet so zigzag stitched all the edges 😆

We are done. I just need to add a hook and eye to the top of the side zip I installed to make it easier for her to get on and off. I'll chronicle the saga tomorrow when we take pics. I did not make anything new for Halloween this year, but rewore the dress I made last year for our company art show. The theme was Universal Studios movie monsters (Frankenstein, Dracula, etc.), which we have the slot machine license for. So I had the idea to make a gothic gown entirely from movie t-shirts. Photos were taken last year for the show. Shout out to my beautiful niece Alexis for asking me to be a part of her 21st Birthday Lewk! This was the most fun I've had making a dress in long time. The fabric is a spandex I had in my stash. The pattern is a modified version of #M7569 cut on a fold instead of separate bodice and skirt. Honestly the hardest part of this was the grommets. I just used an interfacing, and was able to keep them stable that way. We decided to use a silver chain, instead of a ribbon!
