Made this in early October. Mods: I lengthened the skirt by 9 inches and the hem on this thing was A LOT. My weight has fluctuated with my mental health this year, so I added a button tab to the waist for adjusting inches 😅🤪 removed the pointed hem and about 1/2 inch off the fronts of the Pipit and added some simple ties (always a pain to turn out ties this skinny) Made w/ cotton twill from @fabricsstorecom who never fail to deliver on quality. I'm pleased with the results but can't really recommend this pattern. The pieces didn't fit together out of the package. But after all the modifications, it went together pretty easily. ⏳ 2024 sewing backlog continues—when will it end?!?!⌛️ @simplicity_creative_group #s8462 is a reproduction OG 1940’s pattern and is a dead simple circle skirt perfect for the home sewist. I used a cotton twill from @moodfabrics in the most ridiculous grape and mango color combo that matches absolutely nothing in my closet and thus I really never wear this. The hem is a marathon to complete and is taller than me if unfurled. This was my first go at #s8462. I cut the skirt too small a size and it wouldn't fit with the waistband so I turned that into facing by ironing it down and understitching. I thought it was still a failure and it has sat in my closet unworn but I'm thinking it's pretty cute with this men's Reptar shirt. The fabric wrinkles like crazy though, it's some sort of microfiber sheet I thrifted. #memademay Day 5️⃣: My 1940’s Zombie skirt… 🧟‍♂️ I started this skirt in December? January? Some months ago when zippers were still new territory for me (I’m just a sewing baby 🐣🍼) and I managed to massively butcher the install to the point of no return…until last night when I thought to try and revive it from the dead. Carefully ripped out thousands of stitches and cut a new waistband and properly sewed in the zipper. Pattern is #s8462, a reproduction of an original 1940’s one. It’s a classic circle skirt that flows and swishes with such satisfaction; a twirling delight 💃 The fabric is a crime against humanity, however. It tears if you look at it wrong and the flocking was NOT what I was expecting when I ordered it from @moodfabrics. Always swatch when you can, kids 😮‍💨 Anyway! I love it. It may not last very long with this miserable fabric but I’ll handle it with care. I made the move to put my что делать? label on the outside for a little pizazz ✨ posing with a book I started last night after Project Zombie and it is already a wild and wonderful ride. I read Chang-Rae Lee’s book Native Speaker almost a decade ago and have been a fan of his writing since. I’ve had this on my shelf for ages and am so glad to be getting around to it. finally finished the bolero for #s8462. i’ll share the photo for the full outfit tomorrow when i have daylight. some lessons for this one: next time, 1) use stiffer fabric or add interfacing on the whole thing. it feels a little bit too soft and loses its shape more than i expected. 2) avoid lines that have to be matched all the time. #simplicity #simplicitypatterns

Happy New Year! I've never done a make nine post but with it now being 2021 I thought I'd give it ago. Let's see if I stick to these plans! I've picked 6 projects I want to get done this year, the projects either have a challenge or new technique or they fill a gap in my wardrobe. And then I've picked 3 fabrics from my stash that need to get made up this year! 1. #elodiewrapdress from @closetcorepatterns I have never made a wrap style dress before and I am so in love with everyone else's versions of this pattern. I finally sewed a skirt I had wanted to make for a while. It took no time at all, and I am wondering why it took me so long to get to it. It’s based on a pattern from the 1940s (simplicity 8462), although I made changes to the size for a better fit, and adjusted the length, because I am not a supermodel with giraffe legs. I am also kind of proud of my zipper. This is only the second garment with a zipper I have made, so it’s still a bit daunting. ⏳ 2024 sewing backlog continues—when will it end?!?!⌛️ @simplicity_creative_group #s8462 is a reproduction OG 1940’s pattern and is a dead simple circle skirt perfect for the home sewist. I used a cotton twill from @moodfabrics in the most ridiculous grape and mango color combo that matches absolutely nothing in my closet and thus I really never wear this. The hem is a marathon to complete and is taller than me if unfurled. Version number 6 of what is probably my favourite, easy-to-sew and easy-to-wear blouse! I realised the pattern was looking a bit worse for wear, so first attempt at tracing off my patterns too. I omitted the tucks down the front because I think they don't work so well with a larger print. I also added a little bit of width in the front as I felt my others were a teensy bit snug now...but I feel like it's too big now 🤦🏻‍♀️ This one will go perfectly with the navy skirt I made at the start of summer, from the same pattern.
