Nothing says 105 degrees like a faux suede dress, right? This is a mash up of the M8064 and S8513. I spent a lot of time fitting the M8064 and wanted to take advantage of that so I searched Pinterest for neckline inspiration to add something a little different to this one. I’m very happy with this and think it’ll be a great transitional piece if autumn ever decides to arrive. Also every time I think I’ve mastered the double needle stretch hem finish I am humbled by the next seam in a way I’ve never been humbled before. Maybe one day I’ll get a flawless finish of all the double needle seams in a garment on the first try but today is not that day. . . . This is a fun and easy dress that I made in the fall of ‘22. It’s McCall’s #m8064. I made view C with long sleeves and the skirt hits right above my knee. I’ve just found another thing I made when I was on an extended break from IG. #mccalls8064 made out of some kind of 100% cotton knit from @drapersfabrics I made the neckline a bit higher and lengthened the dress adding small side splits. I’ve made this dress twice before in other views but for some reason this time there was a very obvious excess of fabric at my lower back (different fabrics can behave very differently with the same pattern). So I simply pinched out the excess and made a weird back dart across the back waist with my overlocker blending out and disappearing just before the side seams. Well it worked and I’m all for asymmetric and hi-lo hems etc, but I don’t think it really made a noticeable difference to the hem. 2023 is year I embrace the small bust adjustment I’ve been avoiding since 2020📏 Planned this dress specifically for this trip, with the thought it would be a little warmer (it’s been in the 50s the entire time I’ve been in Spain) so maybe not the most practical but I wasn’t going to leave without wearing it at least twice. The final fit I think came out really well, after I made a wearable toile. Before the toile I made all the changes listed below except lengthening the skirt — so the bodice was basically a new pattern piece. Which was a little tricky because there is no waist seam so I had to cut the pattern piece at the waist, make changes and then put it all back together and grade the side seams to look okay. I find that my bodice measurements put me in a 14-16 size usually, or a medium, so I really struggle with patterns that are supposed to be fitted and in letter size combos because I have to do a lot of work to make them work. The effort is always worth it but wish the big 4 would regularly out all sizes in one envelope. . . . Une éternité… Ça fait une éternité que je ne t’ai pas retrouvé avec un POST COUTURE ! Je ne sais même plus par quoi commencer… Salut, moi c’est Marion ! Ah non ça tu sais déjà 😂 Limite, je savais même plus comment prendre les photos, comment taper la pose et tout ✌🏻Et puis j’me suis dit que le mieux était encore que je reste moi-même 😌 Sérieusement, depuis combien de temps on ne sait pas retrouver autour d’un bla-la couture? Des semaines? Des mois? Longtemps en tout cas, trop longtemps ! Tu as dû le remarquer, le décor a un peu changé… Tu ne le sais peut être pas mais il y a quelques semaines, j’ai lancé ma mercerie en ligne @blondiemercerie. Et on se retrouvera maintenant dans mon joli show-room ! Pour nos retrouvailles, je voulais te présenter une cousette simple et efficace : ma petite robe en jersey. Tu sais, c’est le patron qui marche à tous les coups : facile à coudre, rapide à enfiler, un bonheur à porter ! J’ai utilisé le patron #M8064 de la marque McCall’s (que tu peux retrouver sur le shop @blondiemercerie). J’ai ici cousu la version C : manches longues, col tee-shirt et jupe patineuse. Tu peux aussi bien la porter avec des talons, comme une paire de baskets ou de UGGs. Côté tissu, j’ai utilisé un jersey de coton bio @lisetailor. C’est le coupon « Harmonie » issu de leur capsule hiver. Un vrai coup de coeur ! Et quelle douceur ! Je suis conquise… Côté modification, j’ai ajouté 2 pinces en longueur dans le dos (1 de chaque côté du milieu dos) pour que la robe soit plus cintrée car je suis cambrée (oui oui oui, à moi les fesses rebondies ! 🤣). C’était la première fois que je réalisais cette technique qui est ultra-simple. Il suffit juste de former une pince dans le sens de la longueur. Et comme on ne change pas une équipe qui gagne, j’ai formé les pinces grâce à des épingles, essayé sur moi et ajuster au fur et à mesure.
