The fabric guide suggested using #cuddlefleece or #minkyfleece, but this is a gift for a very outdoorsy boy, so I chose to use a waterproof #microfleece. The pattern's easy to follow and is #multisized from 7-14 years. Wow it's been a while since I posted. Election stress killed my sewjo so it's taken a while for my creative juices to flow again. Some of you may have noticed my zipper shenanigans the other day in my stories. I didn't have a top stop for my shortened zipper, so I melted some excess teeth to where I wanted the zipper to end. Anyway, this fluffy masterpiece is a #simplicity8999 in View A for Kiddo. I lengthened the bodice and sleeves since I find Big 4 kids patterns short. I was tempted to line it, but there were no instructions for it and I've never made a lining. Consequently, it's a giant static bomb🤣 I spent a couple weeks trying to figure out how to narrow a raglan bodice because there was 7" of ease in the chest, but in the end, decided to keep it super loose to add to the cuddly-baby-bear effect of the jacket. Aside from finding fluff on my clothing days after finishing, I'm pretty pleased with the result! I went into this with the mindset of refusing to unpick threads so it actually sewed up quickly😅 Teddy fabric and bias tape at the neckline were both from JoAnn Fabrics. Completed Simplicity 8999 which is a toddler size sweatshirt. I used this adorable fox print fleece which I found as a remnant and it was my first time using a separating coil zipper. The sweater is super comfy, an anti-pill fleece, and I decided not to do the elastic band at the bottom or for the sleeves. The pattern was super simple and easy to follow and I will definitely be making more! For Christmas Day I made my daughter the @simplicity_creative_group #s8999 jacket which I heavily altered at her request to be similar to mine. To start with we lined her jacket and I’m really pleased with how this turned out. We excluded elastic in the cuffs and hem and I changed the pockets to be the same shape as the jacket I made for myself. It’s not perfect as I ended up rushing it but she is very pleased with it.
