This is my #memadepartydress to celebrate turning 50! It’s @simplicitymccallsaustralia #voguepatterns #v1898 made from gorgeous #cottonsateen from @spotlightstores I omitted the zip and joined up the collar. I needed to pin above the tie because the neckline plunges too far but will replace with a hook or press stud. Makes a gorgeous, glamorous dress and I felt the #belleoftheball at my party! #memadedress

My #memade wedding rehearsal dress - rayon poplin fabric from #stylemakerfabrics, #cupro #Bemberg cotton lining from #Minerva. Both were awesome to sew and very breathable for a hot August night. I sewed it without any changes. #FabricShoppingOnAWednesday Is brought to you from Frankfurt! There is a German saying: "Wenn Moses nicht zum Berg kommt, dann kommt der Berg eben zu Moses" (when Moses doesn't make it to the Mountain then the Mountain comes to Moses) As there was no shopping for (Italian) fabric in Rome (see 2 previous posts) due to time and luggage restrictions, I indulged (together with a friend) at JP fabrics in Frankfurt - they have a great selection of Italian designer deadstock! 🥳 (When taking home lots of beautiful DEAD-stock prey /booty / haul: am I then acting as a "fabric vulture"?🤔😜) Cover: presenting myself at the fabric store in my new #V1898 dress made from #neridahansenfabrics ordered at @dashuepfendekomma hemmed with purple satin bias tape (my friend A in the background inspecting more options). Btw: This is the dress to the skirt that I wore on my first day in Rome. Pic 2: the Fabric store Pic 3: My friend A. and I, her haul in the bags (everything in these bags will be sewn by me... into a tablecloth, a handbag made from heavy GUCCI jaquard, 8 Christmas goodie bags and 8 kiddie outfits), my haul on the bolts and cut . (That black viskose with creme waves went home with me, too, of course. Long dress. I guess.. Q: is that flowered black cotton batiste more D&G or Moschino? The creme&blue silk is Dior. Then there is more silk, linen, cotton and a padded snake print... Pic 4: Frankfurt is the financial center of Germany, it's all about investing & money. I am also investing: in fabric! I put my money where I can see it - in my closet 🤓😜 Pic 5: relaxing after the shopping spree with people watching (& wine drinking) at Opernplatz (I do love that skyline... still a bit infatuated with my old "stomping grounds") Pic 6-7: posing in my new dress Pic 8&9: initially, the plan had been to make the dress #1898 in two colourways: beige top and blue skirt. But then Lore, my sewing tutor, decided that it looked terrible, the skirt had a faded "worn out" touch. She refused to sew it on... btw: the pattern instructions said "plus difficile", quite rightly so - construction of collar & tie took like 4 hrs under Lore's supervision!!😎 #sewover50July2024

L’année n’est pas encore finie mais j’ai déjà quelques projets pour 2024. Dont cette robe avec ce tissu vintage reçu aujourd’hui. J’en ai 7 mètres en 90 cm de large, une laize qu’on voit rarement aujourd’hui. J’ai fait un burn test pour connaître la composition de ce tissu : rien de sûr. Mais je pencherai pour de l’acétate.
