Another set of great tote bags sewn up and gifted to girlfriends for belated and upcoming birthdays! I made two sizes, large and medium, depending on how much fabric I had. They feature a double pocket on the inside and are 100% cotton, fully washable. Great for toting groceries, books, craft projects, the beach or throwing in your luggage for a day trip when traveling. So fun! I batch cut out and sewed these bags which made the construction process easier and faster. I currently have more of these in the works and plan to sell them in sets or individually, and save some to give away to friends and family. Alina needed a tote for school to carry her laptop and pencil case to classes… she wanted black fuzzy fabric and skulls, but umm, she got solid black 😂 Made the size large width with the size small height. SIMPLE and Sweet Treat Bag! Simplicity #S9308 is an easy unlined tote bag pattern. This tote bag is an introduction to straight stitches, curved hemming, pivoting, pocket construction, and facings. It has 5 pattern pieces and you will end up with 8 fabric pieces. The most challenging part was assembling the interior pocket and installing it to the facing. This installation reminded me of the 𝗯𝘂𝗿𝗿𝗶𝘁𝗼 𝗺𝗲𝘁𝗵𝗼𝗱.  My personal preference is a lined bag.  So my modifications were to add a lining, and to increase the depth of the bag. (𝗠𝗼𝗱𝘀: modifications can transform a commercial pattern into your own unique piece.)  The tote turned out nice. Now, I am excited for the Saturday workshop participants to complete theirs. Trying to catch up on posting my makes! Done more sewing recently so lots of stuff to slowly post. This is the medium size of #s9308 which is my go-to unlined tote bag pattern. I've made two of the small and one of the large before this and this is my favorite so far! I'd probably lengthen the straps next time, especially for the smaller size bag, since I prefer a bag I can slip over my shoulder. Fabric is a thrifted tablecloth, I love the vintage fruits and veggies pattern. Inner pocket is quilting cotton. I posed it with some sewing stuff but usually they're a good size for a wallet, keys, chapstick, other small items you want handy and not at the bottom of your bag.

Giving handmade gifts to my good friends always feels so nice and touches my heart 😍 I made these cute, easy tote bags to give to my girlfriends at our happy hour meetup tonight! I cranked them both out today on my wonderful Husqvarna Ruby sewing machine using cotton canvas from @joann_stores and @simplicity_creative_group sewing pattern S9308 in a few hours.
