This is my favorite time of the year. Not only do I get to decorate like crazy and watch all the Holiday movies, but I get to make gowns and fancy clothes AND actually have somewhere to wear them. In my stash, I have lots of sparkly fabric, so I rarely have to buy any. Of course, that doesn't stop me. 🙄 I have to replenish my stash, right? 😁 This green knit has been waiting patiently for its time to shine. I try to pick a different color each year for this annual ball, and it just happened to coordinate with what the hubby wore. Our son gave us side eye for the holiday colors. 😄 I used a mashup of two of @brandijoan patterns to start, and then I hacked it to create the ruching on the side. It took longer to create the pattern than it did to sew it. Still, I was pretty happy with the outcome. It's really nice to be able to create what you envision. Long sleeve gowns aren't always readily available. Come on Barbie, let’s go party! 💅🏻👛🌸🎀🩷 In all seriousness, this dress was a labor of love, but paid off in the end! #m8436 is for a confident beginner (any pattern can be though if you try hard enough). I’m so happy to end the year with something I will love for a long time. Can’t wait for more projects in 2024! I’ve wanted to make a bodycon dress with rouching for a while now. The lovely folks at @fleishmansupplies walked me through a binder of patterns and sold me on this one. Stretch velvet from @stonemountainfabric. I will definitely be getting more of this in different colors next year! Feels like a dream to touch and wear!

✨ Big witchy energy for the full moon ✨ Made this B version of the #m8436 just in time for a party this past weekend. After making this pattern once before, the second time was much easier. I love this pattern now, and I might try to make versions in other colors once stretch velvet is back in stock next winter from @blackbirdfabrics.

I attended a #winterwedding on Sunday and wore my first make for this year.This is @simplicity_creative_group #m8436.Now i am not a novice seamstress but i am definitely a novice when it comes to using #commercialpatterns.I got this one on the Valentine’s sale,the PDF option. My experience: 1.Taping the pattern together was not a problem and everything was to scale and the test box measured right 2.But i had issues,my elastic guide patterns measured the exact same measurements as the yoke,back,front patterns and i was not sure how the designer intended them to look,on her sew-along it showed that the elastics had to be a lot shorter than the pattern pieces 3.The front overlay was a lot bigger than the front. 4.I cut the size 12 based on my finished garment measurements but i still needed to take in 3 inches from the bust to just before the hip area. Overall after completing this dress i didn’t like it and i won’t be sewing this pattern again.I felt like i needed to look for something else to wear to the wedding but there was no time for shopping so i ended up just wearing it. #isew #m8436 #wedding-day
