After our second big snow storm this week, I felt like making a summer outfit. I chose #ME2063 in a fun tropical cotton print from @fabricville I wanted to try a new pattern that is out of my comfort zone. So I decided on this romper/jumpsuit by Know Me Brittany J. Jones. The jumpsuit that I couldnt get out of my head 😵 So this is @knowmepatterns #me2063 by @brittanyjjones . I really liked the design as soon as I saw it but the separate size ranges put me off buying until the temptation was too much. Though I like my finished product, I have some conflicted feelings. The reason I'm not in love with the pattern is mostly the (customer) experience overall. First, as a cusper between the size ranges I had to choose one or spend twice the money that other people making this pattern would have to. I chose the larger size range and graded the top half smaller myself. I also did not like the printing experience; there were two separate files and the layout seemed unnecessarily roomy. I'm fairly sure this did not need to take 68 A4 pages to print and there's not even the option of an A0 file. I also found this pattern a bit difficult to toile and adjust. It has no darts, which makes it easy to get an okay fit, but personally I find it makes it harder to tweak things as someone who is a very different size on the top and bottom. And despite toiling and making a lot of adjustments, I'm still not loving the fit of the bodice. It's too long and the wrap gaps a bit so I had to add a snap. (You can see how the belt wants to sit above the waist seam in the pictures). I probably would have benefited from sizing down one size on the bodice and making a broad back adjustment instead, but alas, I only have the larger size range and I am not going to grade the top smaller myself AGAIN. I did enjoy the drafting of the pattern, though. It seemed deliberate. The facings and under collar had been drafted so the underside wouldn't peek through which was nice. (there was a wrong text on one of the pattern pieces, though, but it did not affect the sewing) So, thus I am left feeling conflicted. I could see myself making this again if the right fabric comes along. Currently though, I'm playing with the idea of frankenpatterning something similar with patterns I have in my stash already, so I can't get the look without compromising on the fit. #midsizesewing #midsizesewist #sewistso

Day: 30 #memademay2025 Happy Friday! Hot off the sewing machine is today’s make , Know Me 2063. This pattern has been on my list since it came out last year and I love it. I was gifted this gorgeous eco Vera challis from @minervadotcom and it’s the perfect weight and drape for this pattern! This is a #minervabrandambassador make and I think it’s such a great pairing of fabric and pattern. The pattern is by @brittanyjjones and is such a good jumpsuit. The bodice has grown in sleeves and a cross over lapel collar. There is a fly front zipper, side pockets and elasticized back waistband. I made the smallest size which is a 10 and the only adjustments were to the length. Absolutely love the flow of this ❤️. This is definitely going to be a go to piece for this summer, it’s colorful and one piece! If this pattern has been on your list I would highly recommend it. Know Me 2063 finally done! It’s super cute! I may have been overzealous in lengthening it 😅 but next time I’ll just make a deeper hem. I made a size 14, but I think I could have sized down to a 12. I used a little less elastic than what was suggested in the back to cinch it in a little more. Fabric is from my trip to Toronto last year. Thoroughly in love with my new jumpsuit that I made! This is Know Me pattern #ME2063 by designer @brittanyjjones! I sewed it together with some seersucker fabric that I had in my stash because hello, Spring! 💐I cut a 18 but probably could’ve went down to a 16 but I wanted more ease in the bodice. I did shorten the sleeves and cut about 2 inches off the shorts. But otherwise, no modifications at all. Before cutting into this pattern I didn’t realize that it came with a fly front zip. 🤣 I was just so excited to make it that I really didn’t pay attention to the details. Does that ever happen to you? Anyway, it all worked out since I sewed up the zipper from memory (rather than watching a tutorial).
