Robe de soirée bustier 🪩 Je n'aime pas les bustiers sur moi, aussi quand j'ai eu l'opportunité de la faire pour quelqu'un d'autre, j'ai sauté sur l'occasion 😊 C'est marrant car à plat, tous les plis du bustier ont l'air affreux, et c'est une fois porté que ça devient stylé ! Le patron n'est pas difficile à réaliser, mais il y a beaucoup de petites pièces et donc d'étapes à faire ! Le seul hic, c'est que je ne pensais pas que la robe serait aussi courte, s'il y a une prochaine fois je l'allongerai un peu ! The dress got done in time! 💃🏼 Attended the @goldenfoodies last night with my husband (he is an exec chef for a restaurant group and their new spot was nominated for Best Beer & Best New Restaurant, they took home the award for best beer! 🏆). Since it was a dress up event, I whipped up this red gown over the last week. It’s a mash up of @mccallpatterncompany #M7835 for the bodice and #M7896 for the skirt. Red stretch velvet from my stash (purchased in the LA Fashion District last year). ✨My visit to the realm of @lojmasquerade this past weekend was as magical as always. This was my 10th year attending and I think it gets better every year. ✨ This year I went as the Welsh goddess of Spring, Blodeuwedd. She was a women made of flowers, who was turned into an owl as a punishment. 🌸 I wanted to focus on the flower aspect, but have an element of the owl, so I created the wing/sleeves using feather trim and mesh. They snap on to the underside of the straps, so I can hopefully repurpose this dress at some point as a non-costume. 🦉 I frankensteined two @mccallpatterncompany patterns to make this, #M7937 for the bodice and #M7896 for the skirt. The bodice and feathers are embellished with hand placed Swarovski rhinestones for extra sparkle. And I totally ruined a manicure making this headpiece, but it was worth it. 🙃 All supplies were from the LA fashion district and @joann_stores. My wig is from @epiccosplaywigs. Base dress is done. It’s wearable now but I am planning to make it gown length with a second tier of chiffon. Made with black silk gazar overlayed with metallic silk chiffon. Gazar is such a fun fabric to work with. Chiffon is a pain as usual but I love how this fabric just glimmer in the light. Both acquired from @fabricmart a while back. Pattern used is @mccallpatterncompany #m7896 view 2+4+6. I made almost no adjustment at all beside lengthening the skirt a bit. McCalls M7896 When your cousin is getting married it means that is the perfect time to use extra special fabric and challenge yourself. I have been lusting over @juliaallissoncost beautiful fabrics for a few years. Knowing I had a few special events I treated myself to this Pink Bouquet Jubilee in Rayon. Julia is such a talented artist that transforms her amazing paintings into fabric. Choosing a fabric was not easy. I wasn’t set on a dress style but then got the idea of making a strapless dress with boning. And I decided to make #M7896 because I really liked the shaping on the top and rouching. I decided to change the skirt in the pattern and use the @sewlovepatterns Chloe skirt, adding 6 inches to the length and doubling the width of the skirt pieces so I could created a fuller skirt with gathering & a slit for movement and air. I made a size 10 for the @mccallpatterncompany & graded 1/4 inch from the top to the waist. I also added foam cups for additional support. Additionally I made a @sewoveritlondon bow clutch & adjustable straps with hooks and loops in the dress which went on once we started dancing. I will be honest I wasn’t in love with this make and I still can’t explain why, but I was perfectly happy wearing it all night to celebrate @arielleschaffel & @dannyrandell. I also made the bride a reception dress - I’ll share details about that some day 💎. Speak Now (Taylor’s Version) has been out for almost three hours, so here is Taylor’s Dress (Lizzie’s Version) 💜 Swipe all the way to the end for my inspo outfit. I wanted a challenge so here is my first go at sewing with a gathered chiffon overlay and a structured bodice. It’s not my best work and I didn’t finish the insides but overall I think it looks pretty good as a dupe! In the close up you’ll see my uneven bust gathers, and I didn’t even attempt the crossover draping of the original but I learned a lot. I used McCall’s #M7896 and made my own halter strap. I’m taking this to a Speak Now party tonight, so I hope to see some sparks fly later!
