So this Christmas project brought a huge smile to my face! I have a few makes to share from November and December still. First up, are our family Christmas pj's. I didn't get a good clear shot of all of us, unfortunately. Charlie is really into construction trucks right now and I found this fabric in the clearance section at Jo-Ann Fabrics in July. I knew I had to get it. I bought all 7 yards they had. I also added some solid red cotton jersey for contrasting cuffs and neckbands. I used Simplicity 9455 for the base of Eric and I's. I traced off a pair of Charlie's current pj's to make his pattern since he is still way smaller than the smallest size in this pattern. For Eric's, I eliminated the plackets on the neck and pants. The pattern called for some fairly large buttons to go on the knit fabric. Since the fabric I picked was fairly thin and lightweight and these are our Christmas pj's, I decided I didn't want to fight with making nice looking buttonholes. So, I eliminated them. No regrets! I didn't have enough fabric to make myself pants or even shorts. Instead, I lengthened the top to just below my knees for a night shirt. I paired it with a pair of leggings and called it a day. Pretty basic and straightforward sewing. They all came together in a couple of afternoons and evenings. All in all, I will probably make these all again for us with the same modifications and more fabric. How we are already 10 days deep into November is a mystery to me, but here we are. Today, I am going to be cutting out a stack of projects. First up, are our family Christmas pj's. Charlie loves vehicles of all kinds, and I found this Christmas tree construction truck at @joann_stores over the summer in their red tag section. I nabbed all 7 yards they had and am hoping I can make it work to get all three pairs out of it . I am using the family pj's in @simplicity_creative_group #S9455 and adding red cotton jersey for the cuffs, neckband, and plackets. Other than cutting those 3 pairs today, I am also going to cut another t-shirt for Eric since I have the cotton jersey out. It will be a quick sew to slide in with the pj's. I also have a coat I want to cut as my next sewing 101 class demo tonight. December 🎅Santa Pajamas My eldest needed a new pair of Christmas jammies instead of standard flannel I decided to use a knit fabric. Pattern : @simplicity_creative_group #S9455 Fabric: @joann_stores 👋 Waving Santas 🎅 interlock knit Notes : I had a difficult time finding any knit pant patterns for boys but settled this simplicity pattern. Overall I like the way they turned out but had some trouble with the pattern. I've made pants before but the pocket instructions/photos for this pattern were very poorly written.
