The last one actually went to Utah for my youngest son so it was only fitting that my model should get his own. This is a really great pattern that sews up quickly and easily and provides a really classic shirt. No adjustments needed for fitting and I used snaps instead of buttons this time. Happy Friday! One more winter make, using up fabric that I purchased at the end of last winter. I used Butterick 6916 view A and sewed this in a heavy flannel plaid. It’s a great basic and I am sure it will get worn quite a bit. A great camp shirt! It’s a blustery rainy day around here and I’m loving hanging out in my new “shacket” #b6916 from Butterick. I made this out of a lovely herringbone flannel from @joann_stores in the Platitudes line. This is a denser flannel than their Super Snuggle line and my machine didn’t like it when seams got thick. However, I persevered and it was well worth it! This pattern has both children and adult sizes included. I made a toile version in the adult Small and it was too large in the chest and way too long in the arms. I chose to make view B in the child/teen Large and it’s the perfect fit. Mods I made: 🧵 Drafted a new square breast pocket that was in between the child and adult size 🧵 Omitted the pocket flap 🧵 Cut 2 back yolk pieces and used burrito method to encase raw edges 🧵 Made a regular box pleat at back instead of reverse pleat as instructed 🧵 Used French seams on sides and armholes (this is where my machine had fits 😤) 🧵 Bias bound the placket facing and bottom edge before turning up the hem I used some cute flower carved wooden buttons that I got on Etsy. I’m still deciding if it would look cute to add them to the top of the pockets just for design, not function.
