This fabric screams spring. I love how this is coming together. To get this far, it took less than an hour. Almost the same amount of time to workout the pattern adjustments. I had to add darts. Good thing the print hides them. They give the #dress a nice shape in the bust area. I ruched the side on the outside to test the look and determine the length of the ruching. So I didn't use pattern to measure the elastic. The godesses fits perfectly. I'm still about how to explain the bust adjustment. Happy Sunday Friends.☀️😎 Today is “stay indoor” kind of hot in the Pacific Northwest. I got in my car after church and my car was 114 degrees! 😓😓😓. Nevertheless I had to get some photos of one of my makes before it rains again. (My hubby is a patient photographer 😁)I had a “make it work” moment when I started cutting this dress out only to find out I didn’t have enough fabric to lay out the front piece. My solution was to add a seam since the dress has a lot of seams anyway. If I didn’t tell you, you probably wouldn’t notice. If you are one that would, good for you for having a detailed eye. I’m not a huge fan of Butterick patterns because it seems the fitting is inconsistent. Me made May Day 14. This is what my husband calls my “space dress” fun galaxy print jersey. The pattern was adapted from a Butterick sleeveless high necked ruched design. I lowered the neckline and added sleeves. Kept the right side ruching. #butterickB6680 #B6680 the jacket was a McCall’s M7254 which I slightly adapted by covering the tummy area a little more and grading the a line down a little. It was one of the first items of clothing I made last year. Time to make another I think. This dress turned out perfect 💕 I just love everything about it! Let’s start with the gorgeous fabric: It is ITY from @fabmerefabrics and the print has the best of both worlds: stripes and floral patterns with black and white as the main color and a touch of beautiful light and darker red and green. I just love it!! I added some bamboo red fabric for some extra red touches 😝. #fabmerefabrics has some beautiful fabrics selection I’m so pleased with the fabrics I received from them. For pattern I used @simplicity_creative_group Butterick 6680 view B. I went down a size for a better fit. I wish I used a shorter length elastic for the side to make the rushing more noticeable. I’m going to say YES to my new #memade dress 😃🖤🖤🖤 this is #butterick 6680. Sewn in a Ponte Roma Knit fabric in black and silver gifted to me by @minervadotcom It has the perfect amount of stretch and the wrong side of the lining is a beautiful Silver. I’ve been trying to sew with fabrics or patterns that are out of my comfort zone. I don’t usually gravitate toward plaids, ginghams or checkered prints but I am certainly glad that I did. With this pattern I learned how to sew ruching and I even made a head coordinating headband for the first time. February floral fun… We are having a spell of glorious not-to-hot summer weather so time for some 🌺 fun. I got this knit from @wearethefabricstore a couple of years ago - I think they still have some of this Michael Kors dead-stock left. I am not a fan of polyester knits and generally avoid them, but this one was easy to sew and made up really well in this asymmetric skirt Butterick pattern. Being poly, it is not great for really hot days, but does fine for what we have right now. The pattern has an interesting asymmetrical panelled skirt which is very flattering and swishy to wear. Mods included lengthening the bottom panel a few cm and deepening the neckline by a cm or two. The next set of non-identical twins... I really enjoyed my last sew experience of making a pattern twice - the first a wearable toile to refine the pattern and techniques - then the second a quicker and more confident make as a result. I decided I needed to have another go at sewing with knit fabrics- so going to try this Butterick dress pattern- firstly with the blue Vanessa Holliday cotton jersey I got recently from @spotlightstores and then with the red jumbo daisy knit from @wearethefabricstore, which I have had in my stash for a bit, but was waiting to find the right pattern.
