M40A3 Some people may not realize that the USMC M40A3 wore many different types of scopes. They may even be surprised that the same scopes came in different styles as well. The first Schmidt & Bender 3-12x50 PMIIs used a type of turret that tried to tackle the problem of knowing when the shooter was on the second revolution of their turret. Their solution was having a window that would expose a yellow solid color to indicate the second rev. After using this turret for a while, the short falls were identified. The turret made it difficult to identify the revolution in the dark. Also, it was tough to identify using clicks, as the turret was not equipped with the now famous, Click and Clunk, More Tactile Clicks (MTC) design from US Optics. After a couple years, most scopes were retrofitted or ordered using the new MTC turrets. The final iteration of the PMII scopes used the new MTC feature and to solve the low light revolution indication, the turret used a circular projection that would pop up and down that the shooter could feel.
