If there were ever a perfect challenge for this make it would be the #brightsewing one hosted by @theunfinishedseamstress @pinkcoatclub!!! 💖🌟🌞 . . Sometimes I let my aesthetic be dictated by what my 6-year-old niece (my sweet little bitty 🦄) would approve of and this WHOLE OUTFIT fits the bill!!! This is actually my first time making a tutu and I gotta say, I think I made it 10x harder than it had to be 🤣🤣🤣 Sometimes I get so excited about a project that I don't take the time and patience to do things properly and it always bites me in the end! 😖 So if you wanna make this, my advice is to take your time (that's probably good sewing and life advice anyway!) . . But anyhoos, this is my version of #mccalls7615 which is a costume pattern but which I absolutely intend to rock in public! 💃💃💃 I had to make the following adjustments: - Made it out of netting rather than tulle - Switched the upper and lower layers so the short one went on top - Shortened View C by about 3.5" - Extended layers to cover the back fastening so I didn't have a window to my backside (a peek-a-booty if you will 🤣🤣🤣) - Added a second waistband because I found I needed a thicker band to not look pregnant 🤦‍♀️ . . This bad boy is HEAVY and I'll be interested to see how it holds up to use in public but I absolutely LOVE LOVE LOVE it!!!!! 💖💖💖💖💖 . . Skirt fabric is two different mesh nettings (that rang up as tulle) from @joann_stores. Believe it or not I do NOT live in a house with vibrant, multicolored walls 😜 (although I wish I did!!! 🏠🌈) . . The walls of my rental unit are the same bland shade of the beige-est beige that ever beiged which, for obvious reasons, doesn't really vibe with my personal aesthetic. 😬😬😬 I compensate in pictures by using a variety of backgrounds including: 1) paper photography backdrops; 2) bedsheets; 3) large pieces of felt; and 4) pieces of wood that I painted and strapped to the dilapidated fence in my backyard 💙💚💛🧡💜💖 . . I usually sew my projects all at once in a feverish flourish. But this one took me a couple of weeks to complete. The holidays, the exhaustion, the cold (I know, I know…California cold) and I also had to make a trek back to @fmfabrics for another yard.
