Luxurious velvet robe finished today. I used #simplicity9131 which is quite a basic pattern. I added cuffs to the sleeves, a slight flare to the side seams and several inches to the hem for the perfect swanning-about length. Unfortunately I did not have enough fabric for a matching turban which I feel it deserves. Matchy matchy pyjamas for my husband and son for Winter! Made with NFL Steelers flannelette from @lincraft in two different prints. I bought one lot, realised I wouldn't have enough for my husband's pants with the one way pattern and having to add extra length to the legs, so went back for more but couldn't get the same one. I was able to put it to good use by making a pair for my son too! They were both made using the trusty #simplicity #S9131 pyjama pattern. Simplicity S9131 pyjama pants in 2 lengths. My daughter is starting to sew and has now made 2 pairs of PJ pants. Shorties in Grinch fabric made today and full length flannelette made earlier in the year. This pattern is super quick and easy to make in an afternoon and with these 2 pairs made by Miss B it makes 5 pairs we have made from this pattern. I really love giving my friends and family handmade gifts. Even as a child, I remember the thrill of making a friendship bracelet that was *just right* for the intended recipient. When my Dad asked me to sew a simple summer robe, I felt that thrill again as I made each choice. Which pattern would be a good equivalent to the summer robes I sewed for my mom and sister-in-law? Was the fabric I chose the color of blue he had in mind? Should I add a print contrast somewhere? Was I making the right pattern adjustments based on his measurements? For summer I like robes with a nice flat neckline without a bunch of fabric around your neck, so I didn’t want a pattern with a shawl collar like you find on terry cloth robes. This is a super quick and easy pattern, great for beginner sewists.
