New make Pj pants for my daughter, only about a year after she chose the fabric 😬. Tried a new pattern I’ve had for ages but never used for a looser fit: #Simplicity1563 which has just 1 pattern piece, elastic waist and drawstring, no pockets. Makes for a pretty fast sew. I used 1 inch elastic instead of 0.5 and made the drawstring from the same flannelette which is a bit thick but looks cute. Customer is happy so that’s what counts 💕 Neglected to take fancy photos before gifting them. I popped a ‘sidekick’ label in them ‘cos she likes cats and she was kind of my little sidekick 🥰. I’ll get around to making a matching pj shirt at some point too, probably next winter at this rate. Note: the pattern is very long - my daughter is 172 cm tall and even though I made a deeper hem and turned over a deeper waistband, they are still a teeny bit long (although she says they are perfect, bless her 💕). I made these while she was away house sitting, so had to guess length etc as she had all her winter pjs with her so I couldn’t compare. She popped home for dinner last night so I gave them to her before dropping her back to the station 😢 Edited to add: just saw the pattern is for ‘guys and gals’ and is marketed as a 2 hour sew. Project 48 of 52 Cozy flannel robes #simplicity1563 When I made my daughter a “fancy” robe for her 30th birthday, I knew what she would really get more use out of a cozy robe. So I put flannel robes on my to-do list for her and her partner. This is such a great pattern, so easy and goes together really smoothly. I finished the hem and cuffs with bands instead of just a hem, I think it gives a much nicer finish. After I pieced together the scraps to make gift bags, it was pretty much a zero waste project. This is the last week of national sewing month and I don’t want it to end. When I tell you that I love sewing, I LOVE SEWING!!!! I took over the guest room of my house for my sewing studio, I started a business @sewroritywear with my sewing sisters to show our love for sewing and sewing merch, I host an in person meetup called @theprojectsew and online sewalong @sewyourview. We are still in the middle of winter (there was 3” of fresh snow last night) but my head is already thinking and designing spring and summer outfits. Loved making this birthday robe for my daughter-in-law. The @Liberty #tanalawn Odyssey was a dream to sew and it’s the second make from this Simplicity #S1563 pattern. Size range 30”-48” and includes pj (long and short) bottoms and tops too. Swipe thro to see the first one. There’s another in the offing, so I’m guessing I can refer to it as a TNT pattern. But boy, oh boy, do I need to get a wiggle on and finish painting the door architrave. My first successful made-for-me for a while, well several decades 🌷. Coming back to this stitchery malarkey and realising I’m a very different shape, this summer robe was a kind start! Opening this delivery of fabric from Liberty felt a bit like opening a box of Christmas present embroidered hankies. If you know that feeling, you know!!! I just wanted to stare at its pristine, folded, loveliness. Simplicity 1563a was a straightforward make, tho I didn’t complete it in the 2 hours suggested on the packet! I think it took me nearly that time to make sure the band lay flat! I made a hanging loop from the description bit of the selvedge. Rookie error: as it’s a make for everyone, the belt loops and pockets positions are low! Any excuse to dress up 💚❤️💙💜 I loved making these ABBA costumes for a friend’s #abbaparty and I’m so pleased with how they turned out. The embellishments were a bit out of my comfort zone but I still enjoyed the process. Getting into sofa cozy time of year 🛋. So good excuse to make new PJs. Nightshirt for bed with PJ trousers for lounging 😆 I have made this combo a number of times now and love it. Details just because they feel nice; French seaming, loops and labels and binding on inner cuffs. Fabric is Offset Warehouse handweave cotton, feels blissful🥰 and trimmed with deadstock linen. In the past I also did a takeover and sewalong on the @sewyourview IG with this Simplicity #S1563 robe/pajama pattern. I LOVE being able to see patterns for more than just the cover illustrations, and I love sharing my vision with others. So I set out on a mission that month to create and discuss ideas that may seem somewhat unconventional for a pajama pattern. I even uploaded a fabric shopping trip and inspiration IGTV video for this pattern. It’s still on my page @bradschultzdesign if you want to have a look! 👀 I ended the takeover with four garments-three made from the same robe pattern. I began by making a traditional robe from a French terry fabric. This robe still hangs in my bathroom and is the perfect comfy thing to throw on to lounge. Next, I decided I wanted to use the robe pattern in different ways so I made a sweater knit cardigan and a Sherpa suede coat. I also used the pajama pant pattern with some styling inspiration from @mimigstyle pattern Simplicity #S8570 and blended the two. I used a blue linen combined with rainbow ribbon trim and white snaps to create a fun pant. Want to look stylish but also feel like you’re wearing pjs?
