🐸 Luscious linen selva shirt 🐸 Another shirt for Mr. Taupe Morocco! He helped me justify my first @blackbirdfabrics purchase by picking out this fabric for himself with the promises of a shirt. This is a dimensional jacquard linen that is so beautiful and soft. I even took the care to pattern match for the first time in my life for that front patch pocket 🥲 only the best for Mr. TM. I've made this pattern previously and used the notes I had left for myself from last time, but I think it's time to retire this pattern. There are some flaws in the instructions and some construction weirdness. #S9157 #memade

There is not enough time, energy or fabric in this world to make her plans come true. Sewed a shirt for the husband over the weekend! Such an enjoyable sew - I have to say I do love putting together a shirt 🥰 When all the puzzle pieces fit together perfectly it's the most rewarding feeling in the world! First time doing cuffs and I think I handled them pretty well 😁 Pattern is @simplicitymccallsaustralia #s9157 in size 44. Probably could've gone down a size, but it's my bad for not checking the measurements before going for the 44+ sizing. It's also supposed to be relaxed and oversized, so I think it's a pretty good fit. Fabric is the most, most gorgeous organic hemp in Rye from @wearethefabricstore. Honestly so soft and lovely to sew and wear - I would happily have an entire wardrobe made out of this organic hemp material 😍😍 Definitely going to be purchasing more of this in the future! Overall, love the pattern and already envisioning making more of this shirt in different fabrics, perhaps a corduroy or cotton/linen version! Very pleased with my most recent sewing project, the @bfpatterns #bfbestiebag I made my version in black duck canvas from @joann_stores The fabric is quite structured so I skipped interfacing. Used a black cotton for the lining and chose the self strap with slider option. This is the medium size bag. Excited to have a new daily bag, it holds everything I typically carry with room for a book. -Sew Upcycle- I made a jacket out of a wool blanket. The blanket is pretty old, I guess. It's woven in two parts and sewn together. See the seam down the back. Simplicity 9157 - View B(40): Made with Mandalorian Dad Badge Cotton fabric. Another May the 4th(Be with You) project in the bag! The instructions for this pattern were a bit confusing when attaching the collar and the button facing. The opening of the collar needs to be long enough to tuck in where the collar and shirt are sewed together. Once sewed together, you tuck it in to the collar opening and sew it closed. In the next step, the button facing will go over a portion of the collar and you stitch it down. These steps were tricky, so I would take my time and baste and adjust as needed. It was helpful to watch @elianasews and @happilydressed YouTube videos to make sense of the instructions. Also when attaching the sleeves, I thought I cut bigger sleeves because they were much longer than where I was pinning them to BUT it worked out. 👔 Breezy Blue Button-Up 👔 Mr. Taupe Morocco got a shirt! He's been patiently waiting for his turn to have something made and I finally delivered. I made a toile, even made the insides pretty, and used the automatic buttonhole maker feature for the first time. Pulled out all the stops for my number one supporter 🥺 Was quite pleased with how it turned out and loved working with this linen, a perfect shirt for the warming weather. This pattern is the #s9157 camp collar shirt and there were several warnings online about the mistake in the instructions for the collar construction. Luckily there were some helpful YouTube videos to avoid the confusion, but I was intimidated! What this process taught me is I'm officially a #toilegirlie lol As a designer, prototyping is seared into my brain but idk why it took me this long to realize I needed to incorporate this step into my sewing process! Anyways, Mr. TM is a huge fan of linen and has already bought 2 different linens for future projects he wants me to make 😂 I better get on it! #memade

Happy Chinese New Year 🎊🧧🧨 I've been struggling with my sewjo lately as it's been such a tiring and busy start to the school year (hello life as a Pre-Primary teacher!) Plus I'm back to working full time so there doesn't seem to be enough time in the week to do the things I want to do 🥲 Anyway, all this to emphasise how proud I am for managing to whip up this matchy matchy couple set for hubby and I just in time for CNY this year. With it being the year of the dragon, I splurged a little on the most perfect and funkiest cotton sateen Paper Dragon Dance print from @spoonflower. Such a delight to sew with, as always, though the fabric was not as silky smooth as I thought it would be. After eyeing this pattern for so long, I finally got round to making the Tate Romper by @smallmuseum_ which is actually one of my #makenine2024 ✅ Loveeeed this pattern! Made the size 10 with no mods, apart from raising up the straps slightly. The instructions were so good and I appreciated the video tutorials showing how to do an invisible zipper - definitely my neatest one to date! The shirt pattern for hubby is @simplicitymccallsaustralia #s9157 which I've actually made for him before, but this time I went with view C which is the short sleeved version. This is such a great pattern for a casual shirt. My only regret is perhaps not having enough fabric (or patience) to pattern match the front 😆 also my overlocker accidentally chewed a bit of the fabric on the back so there is a hole that I've patched up with a @kylieandthemachine label. Bottom left: Pillow pets sewn from stash minky fabric left from a quilt backing for my cousin’s memorial quilt. Pillows were a spontaneous project, starting with first on right for younger grandson undergoing a medical procedure. He adores soft and squishy things, alternately cuddling and bouncing on them. This odd pillow creature was an immediate hit and soothes him through many bumps and bruises. I made the weird looking dino pet for his older brother, as I knew he’d want his own pillow. . 4 & 5. Bottom middle and right: Easter “baskets” for grandsons. Smaller bunny ear basket made of husband’s old shirts for younger grandson, filled with a board book and his favorite yogurt melts. Larger sturdy bin made with stash upholstery fabric and vinyl for older grandson, filled with dinosaur eggs. I much prefer making “baskets” when I can that might be used for toy storage, etc.—especially when I can use stash or up cycle fabric. .
