Sewing this button down shirt took me way longer than it should have, but I finally finished it! I made this button down shirt for Stefan using McCall’s M8263 pattern. This is a bowling style shirt, not fitted. So keep that in mind based on fit preference! A few modifications were made on this one. I omitted the front pleating and adjusted for that when cutting fabric pieces. Skipped the front pockets. Also ended up with a different arm size and torso size so did a little cheat. Should have graded the pieces for the right fit but oh well! Fabric is block printed from India, purchased from @blackbirdfabrics. Between managing the Fabric and Pattern Stash contest on Pattern Review and summer vacation, etc. I haven’t done too much sewing this summer. But I did manage to make Devin a shirt that I’ve been promising him for a year! Finished it just in time for our vacation to NJ. Pattern is McCall’s M8263 shirt in view A, size L. Across-front and across-back measurements have been increased by 1/2” each. I should have stay-stitched the shoulders as they grew quite a bit with handling and have dropped past his shoulder line. Next time! (And there will be a next time as this is a great shirt - those tucks!) Fabric is carrot/raspberry yarn-dyed linen that I got on sale from Fabric Mart last year. The warp and weft threads are each a different color so there’s a color-shifting quality as it moves and drapes. New shirt make! This is a pattern I hadn’t used before - @simplicitymccallsaustralia #M8263 Cut it all out then got stuck with the tucks at the front (they were simpler than I realised in the end 🙄) so it sat on my project pile for a month or two. Picked it back up last week and got a lot of it done on a rainy day while watching The Simpsons. Different construction (for me) of the collar and facings and found it a little confusing.
