Day 30 of #memademay2025 and I’ve gotten through almost all of my makes from the past year! Just a couple woven and knit tops left, mainly made from scraps from other projects. Today I’m wearing a tank made using scraps of the gingham @blackbirdfabrics linen that I used for a slip dress. I used view A from the @mccallpatterncompany #m7774 dress pattern and cropped it into a tank. The dress is a swing cut so I had to take the sides in a bunch but I really like the neckline.

I'm very pleased to say I can get the variation I want out of the pink rayon, as long as I cut the facings from some white rayon I have (I may or may not dye it). Another shift dress upcycle. I used two dresses and some viscose rayon scraps. I used #m7774 I combined two skirts and made a big pleat in the front. The bodice has a V neck and I’m wearing it backwards. I used French seams throughout and the skirt turned out too short so I added a rayon panel on the hem. The last picture shows some the street vendor down that sells rayon shift dresses for $3.00 dollars. She adds different prints each day. We took our little boy to the aquarium and he loved it. I forgot how nice going on a little holiday is! I made this McCall's 7774 as a wearable toil for another fun project (which I haven't shown yet). I adjusted the pattern so that I could cut the front bodice and skirt on the fold, and I nipped in a bit at the underarm and the shoulders to get a better fit. I made a size 16 for a 103cm bust. Finally back to sewing after pausing for a few months! This time a flower dress for myself 😊 When I bought this fabric I don’t have any dress pattern on hand but I roughly know how I want my dress to be, so I began searching for a suitable pattern and finally found Mc Call’s M7774 pattern D. Little did I know that the instructions in this pattern is too simple for beginners like me so I toke me a while to complete this dress. Nevertheless, I’m really happy with the outcome and also learnt a few new skills while making this. New make! One that I am honestly unsure about. It’s #m7774 by the @simplicitymccallsuk @simplicity_creative_group and I love it mostly but I think the fabric palette is all wrong on me. this is DEEP stash crepe from @poundfabrics so would qualify for #2fromstashamonth and I love this fabric just not on me. Too pastel and I think it just washes me out. Too much of the pastel not enough vibrant. Also I think I need bust darts for it as it just sort of bellows around my busy area in an unflattering way. I added the baby ruffle at the bottom (copied from the lovely @theladywholunches ) and I like the dress but it has nighty vibes in the ways that I am still unsure of. It is still very comfortable to wear on this balmy weather. I sewed a straight size 16 and just omitted the center parting. Getting in just under the wire, here’s my only post for #memademay. I made this dress, #m7774, thinking it would a nice palette cleanser after some complex projects. Dresses are pretty straightforward, right? ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Cut to me redoing the zipper twice (I had my mind set on a lapped zipper and I forgot how to do one) and changing the hem one, from a 5/8” double hem to a baby hem. But I love this sundress! It’s so twirly and fun! You sew a whole dress of course! 👗 This is McCalls #m7774 in a cotton fabric from @mandlfabricsanaheim and it’s a bit heavier than I usually go for in a dress. However, I might be able to take this dress into autumn when the time comes and pair it with some cute boots and even a fitted shirt or cardigan. I just fell in love with the stripes and was fully committed to playing with the pattern on this dress. Pro tip: if your outfit isn’t in your color palette, just try to stay next to a wall that is in your palette 🙃 this dress is a little wild for me, not gonna lie. This fabric has been in my stash forever, acquired for pennies at an estate sale; mystery substrate, but seems like a linen-blend. The pattern is #m7774 with a skirt from another pattern, as I didn’t have enough fabric for the full gathered skirt. I bought the wrong size range, so I did some very unprofessional scaling to make it work. Saw @26bydayana posting about her #M7774 dress and realized I hadn't posted it yet! This was from the fabric I won from the @swapitsewit drawing a few years ago 😮‍💨😅 I did a mix that landed me somewhere between View C& D

This dress is a favorite but it is a bit wonky. Look at that fabric! I have never ever pattern matched before so of course I go all in with this one trying to make a “v” on the bodice. It kind of worked. The real issue was the skirt, I cut it out 2 times trying to get the cut and placement right and I think, somehow, I ended up with too many front pieces or they are facing the wrong direction….I don’t know. But the skirt isn’t quite right. The other issue the arm holes are too big so if I make it again I will try to bring up the opening a little. But I do love to wear this dress. I have no idea what the fabric is. I think, because it does not wrinkle at all, that there is polyester involved. McCall's 7774 This dress is such a delight to wear. @elliewhittakerstudio kindly gifted me this beautiful cotton drill for a little group project to sew up something amazing to showcase her beautiful fabric range available at @spotlightstores I used the #m7774. I cut both the front bodice and skirt on the fold to omit the front seam and showcase the fabric better. I also had to take in a small wedge both under the arm and at the shoulders to get the perfect fit. I made a size 16 and have a 103cm bust. Ellie's fabric is so bright and fun! I truly love dopamine dressing in clothes I have made using her fabric!

Well this has been an experience! It started life as a #M7774 but I absolutely screwed up the bodice part of the dress. So I tried something completely different and just added a fat strip of cuffing fabric and some straps to the skirt portion of the dress and actually this turned much better than I planned for. Really happy with the dress. Love the fabric which I got from @myfabricplace (my local shop round the corner). It still needs hemming and an iron but still looks better than I hope. Just need summer now lol. PATTERN TWIST🎡 Indian printed cotton fabrics are a dream to sew with—light, breathable, and beautifully hand-printed. The quality of these fabrics is incredible, making them perfect for summer outfits. I used a stunning hand-printed cotton from India for this dress, and it feels amazing to wear on holiday! Originally, I planned to make View A of #m7774, but after looking at other versions, I noticed the hemline was uneven and didn’t match the pattern illustration. Always do your research before diving into a project! I then switched to View B, but the first mock-up was way too small—the waistline sat too high and needed major adjustments. In the end, I turned it into a simple slip-on dress without any closures (because who doesn’t love an effortless outfit?). To add more volume and movement, I made a three-tier gathered skirt, and I love how it turned out! Thin, soft, and flowy—perfect for warm weather. I also paired it with the Carrier Bag from @merchantandmills ;) The pleats gave me a bit of a challenge, but it all worked out in the end. [ad]
