I've just finished making this jacket for my friend's birthday. We bought the material when we were together in London and I dragged her to Goldhawk Road to look at the fabric shops. We both liked the material and I bought just a metre. Sadly 1 metre was not enough to make this top for me, but it was for her I added lace from The Lace Company who supplied this lovely Black Cotton Crochet Nottingham Cluny Lace, which I think gives in a bit of a Spanish vibe Added my own label 😊, made for me by @wovenlabelsuk Pattern is Simplicity S9124 option A I hope she likes it

Stepping into spring in black doesn't seem quite right, but it goes with everything right? Especially more black 😂 This kimono style jacket is an upcycle of my Halloween cape, I don't like to repeat Halloween outfits and knew I wouldn't be using it for anything else so purposely didn't hem it or make too many cuts to the fabric in order to make this jacket at a later date, it worked out great! Although I did have some issues with the neckline of this so it's anything but even, I'll just be wearing it with my hair down though to cover that up. This top is another basic im using quite a lot at the moment, its a slight hack as its supposed to have arm hole ruffles but in all honesty i didnt feel like attaching them. It's a fairly basic top but I really like the neck line of it so might make it again in a daintier fabric with the ruffles, I'd probably make it a bit longer too as it is quite cropped. The dress is Simplicity 8874, size 18 bodice and size 22 skirt. I did a 1.5” FBA but I probably only needed 1 inch. I’m late to the game but I like the dress, although I still have fit issues to work out. The jacket is Simplicity 8418, size 18 graded to 20 at the hips. It’s not the pleather bomber jacket of my dreams and it really tested my patients! The pockets feel awkward and I had some trouble with the zipper. Make sure you transfer all pattern markings and watch the zipper length if you make this bomber. I like the dress paired with Simplicity 1318 which is an “easy to sew kimono,” it is easy to sew and wear and I see more of these in my future. The bomber jacket is made out of Telio Roxanne stretch leather from fabric.com. The dress is made from a @Robertkaufman knit from Stonemountain & Daughter. Mods: Skipped the lace edging Added a button with thread loop No hem req'd because I used the ruffle that was already on the upcycled caftan that I mad it from. I recommend that you use drapey fabric. I'm also making one for my mom but she chose quilting cotton which is really too bulky for this boxy style. She'll have to wash it a few times to soften it up.
