A very colourful and cheap weekend sew of the Simplicity #S9324 pattern using @cottonon fabric gift wraps, which were discounted to $2 😮😁. . This was so much fun to make working with bright colours and mixing prints. The Easter sewing post 🧵 Two separate trips to the thrift shop yielded fabric that inspired this year's Easter look. First, I came across the adorable vintage print that I used in Martha's dress. It came in two pieces and I am pretty sure it is actually a flour sack. This Simplicity reproduction pattern required almost every bit of it, and I even had to shorten it three and a half inches to cut it out. Because the sides gapped some upon finish, we layered it over a tee for more coverage A couple of months later I found this blue floral poly-cotton to sew Anna's coordinating dress. I believe it is an 80s fabric, as it still had its original Alco price tag attached - so I guess that also qualifies as vintage. I used a newer Simplicity pattern that I had been wanting to try out because of its jumbo pockets and open back. Yikes, I’ve been putting off posts for quite sometime! In between teaching and living life I’ve had little time to sew or quilt. I finished this dress a day before my flight out to London. The fabric was purchased almost two years ago from an estate sale. It’s a beautiful vintage cotton with butterflies and florals. I hated the thought of using it in the case I would ruin the pattern. I was finally able to take decent pictures of my most recent make. It’s the #S9324 by @simplicity_creative_group I made view A in size 10 and used skirt for view B but cut about 3 inches on the hem. Before finishing, I tried on bodice and it fit small. I’m a beginner - I don’t know how to measure myself and I also don’t know how to choose sizing. So I ended up making the button placket smaller and added fabric scrap to the midriff and neck facings. Super proud moment when it fit! I’ll definitely be wearing this dress a lot. This dress was a year in the making. I made the top part last summer and then sat on it until this summer. The fabric is a restoration hardware bedsheet from the @arcthrift The pattern is @simplicity_creative_group #s9324 version C The size is 12. Which is generally the size I make, but I could have graded the top and waist between a 10 and 12.
