March morning makes! Actually I finished this top in February( Butterick 6687). It’s poly double georgette, but I used it to practice for some silk I bought. I treated it with gelatin, cut it out single layer with a rotary cutter and silk pins, used a Microtex 70/11 needle, French seamed everything, and used a keyhole closure with a hand-crocheted button loop like the pattern suggested. No fitting adjustments, straight size 14 out of the package. (40-31-40 are my measurements) It took me a week of morning sewing to go slow and do it right. I had a problem with the sleeves they are sewn with an inverted V and I have a weird point going on with the ruffle sleeves laying odd and flying up not sure what I did wrong🙀 Fabric is a chiffon crepe which I love sewing and use starch to iron down any little narrow Hems . I have been giving my recent makes names. 🤭 Here is my ‘top to make me smile’. 😁 Fabric is a rayon called ‘Party Spot’ by Rachel Parker for Dashwood Studio bought as a remnant online from @justsewpenrith Been in my stash since February this year but I knew I’d be making a top from it. Such a fun print 💃💃💃 Pattern - Butterick #B6687 view B from 2019 so not vintage yet. 😜 I was attracted to the sleeves on this view. ✂️made size S ✂️let out the side and back seams from the waist down to allow for my sticking out bot (sway back is it?! 😅) ✂️let out the back seam around the central back area as it was tight ✂️took in the front seam from the shoulder to the underarm as too big in the upper bust area (Basically changed the whole shape didn’t I)! 🤣🤣🤣 I spent time adjusting the pattern as I’d really like a basic semi-fitted bodice that fits so I attach different sleeves, adjust the neckline etc as an experiment. 🤓 Project on @stash_hub Another 1.2m of my stash used (total now at 24.7m of which 16.7m are sewn). #whole30fabricchallenge @pinkmimosabyjacinta Another entry, yawn yawn you must be saying Nic and Helga for #2fromstashamonth @salixsews @septemberfaden Also check out my machine embroidery around the sleeves and bottom hem! Who doesn’t love a feature sleeve? I have to say I’m particularly drawn to them being a wheelchair user as I think it adds that extra bit of detail. Anything that draws attention to my outfit and away from the chair is a winner in my book. I found this wonderful Butterick blouse pattern B6687 that offers 4 different sleeve variations and a nice high neckline. (Another consideration when being seated as you are usually viewed by most people from above). I chose to make option A which has waterfall ruffled sleeves and paired it with the most gorgeous viscose challis from Minerva’s Exclusive Collection called Desert Rosettes. I fell in love with this fabric as soon as I saw it and was so grateful when Minerva kindly gifted it to me as part of their Ambassador program. I love the colours and the gorgeous leopard print and knew being a challis it would drape beautifully for the sleeves. I absolutely love everything about this blouse and know that I will be getting a lot of wear out of it. It can be dressed up or down and looks great either way. I made both of these pieces for my winter wardrobe last year and never got around to photos. I’m wearing them both today, so here they are. The top is a boat neck gathered center sleeve made in a hand dyed rayon twill. With a wide leg trouser in dark wash denim with a bit of stretch. Made with With a few mods. Extra long belt with curved end shape to make a bow, extra wide elastic band to hold up that heavy weight denim and mock fly front. I used a lightweight dark wash denim for the elastic waistband casing to eliminate bulk and classic jeans style belt carriers. Test project with a stretch knit fabric. Made from a pattern from Butterwick #B6687. Made smaller and altered arms. The fabric is sparkly! Ran out of the purple fabric so had to use a similar fabric on the arms.

I know it probably seems boring to remake a pattern, but when I find one that I absolutely love I just can’t resist the temptation. I also think that different fabrics make an outfit look completely different anyway. So, for the second time I have made Butterick B6687, option A. This time I have used a John Kaldor Crepe fabric from my stash which was purchased a little while back from Minerva. The fabric is called Ibrox and this is the dusty blue colour way. This fabric is a lot stiffer than the viscose challis that I used previously, and so has created a different effect on the sleeve ruffles. I love the colour of this fabric and the placement of the flowers. I had been admiring very similar tops in RTW but wasn’t loving the hefty price tags. I love that I can create my own version (that fits comfortably) and hasn’t broke the bank! I always trace and tissue fit a pattern before making a garment and so as I was happy with the fit of my last blouse, I just went ahead and reused the pattern. I used exactly the same construction method as last time so I won’t go into detail again but If you want to know more, please just visit my blog and read my last review (link in bio). Tried out this fun little shirt on a piece of $5 fabric that I bought for a scarf. I actually like it! Next time I will change the facing, I don’t like using bias tape I think it makes it look homemade not hand made. I’ll cut bias out of the fabric and fold it like a French binding. But it was mostly made on my L460 Overlocker.
