It’s been 4 years since I’ve posted on here. I’ve made lots of clothes and crafts since then but most importantly I made another human! 👦🏼 (that masterpiece is shown in slide 2 😆) While I still love making clothes for my kids, I have recently started sewing for [gasp!] myself! It’s our baby girls first Halloween 👻. She went as our little storm “El Niño” (from a Saturday night live skit if you are old enough to remember 🤣) * We were hoping it would be a little darker out when we took these photos because mom and dad had twinkle lights in their costume. But our timing was off and we just had to commit because our clouds kept falling off. I should have hot glued them on but I didn’t want to ruin the onesie’s I had made. So 2 rolls of boob tape later and you have clouds that kind of stay on 🫣 * El’s pants were made from a #lowlandkids free pants pattern and her top was self drafted. I had no idea how I was going to make ruffle sleeves so I winged it and it actually came out in the first round ❤️ when that happens. Onesies were made using #M7518

My Son has the nickname giraffe as he’s so long and lanky. He asked for a Giraffe onesie - so that’s what he got 🤣. Taco bout the best thing I've ever sewn 😂🌮🙌❤🤪 So I ended up sewing this like a maniac last Friday before our book club zoom meeting but I didn't have time to sew on the sleeves 😂😂😂 I know... I wore it anyway lol and then everyone told me how they liked it so much more without the sleeves. For the summer I actually think they are right so for now I will leave them off even though I did already sew them. Overall I did like sewing this pattern, I did a large and dropped the crotch to the XL pattern because I didn't want it super snug but it still was snug ish. So next time I will have to play around with the pattern. I made this fleece onesie for my sister @heykelbel this Christmas. She loves novelty stuff so I was sure it would be a hit. I used hedgehog print fleece to make it multi-seasonal and the only adjustment I made to the pattern was an extra inch in the legs, since we are tall! Since the pattern is unisex it already had plenty of length in the arms and torso. It came together quickly and easily and turned out fantastic! Highly recommend. What!!!😳🤗 And it wouldn't be #memademay without a lounge make for me🦥, I made a onesie!!😃💃💤 I looked all my #memades and realized I have ALOT of sleepwear makes...I think that might mean something🤔😉 . So it's been chilly the last few night here in #muskoka and a great excuse to wear it!! I mean honestly a onesie is practically a necessity in winter here🥶❄️. This is 'Little' of course cuddling up, not looking so wolf like now, 😂. . It's actually a super special make for me. You see I was sewing it when our other furry family member , Chewie, passed.💔😔 And when he did I just couldn't get the sew-jo to finish it....I sewed other things, and kept making, but somehow it felt like finishing this was closing a part of our life together... he was always laying at my feet while I was working on it and there was lots of stray white fluff that had snuck into the seams. 🐺❤️💕 I'm usually careful about that, but not when I know it's my own sleepwear and it's just going to permanently dog furred anyway🙃.... And eventually of course I did finish it, as you can see and and I LOVE it. Chapter closed...but not really... because everytime I wear it I feel like I'm wrapped in a little extra warmth. Maybe it's the extra fluff...maybe something more.💕 . Anyway if you scroll to the end there's a pic of him and Little together looking out over the lake, she was always his Little shadow, they were both rescues from rough places and it's like he helped her transition into a life of trust and love. . From a Onesie to a two piece: how I made this failed first attempt at #M7518 work for me. Now if I had been smart I would have checked the length of the body of the pattern before blindly moving forward with my first ever onesie/jumpsuit let alone a unisex one, but I basically just perused the size guidelines and chose one without thinking of the length of the actual pattern. If I had planned this better I might have had a better chance of at least pattern matching the pockets! The result was a hip curve that was way too low, a very dropped crotch and the hips being a bit too tight because the waist was hitting there. This is the image on the far left of the first pic, which was taken after I hacked 2” off the leg and arm lengths (I’m just under 5’5” for reference). The middle shot was the difference it made when I pinched out about 2” from the length in the body. The far right pic was after a quick trip to #fabricana to get some more white ribbing so that I could turn this into a two piece sweatsuit/pj ensemble 😁. I just hacked it across with my rotary cutter right under the pockets, added the ribbing to the bottom of the now sweater and top of the now pants, and changed the zipper to a separating one . I’ll be working from home for a few hours tomorrow and I think I’ll be wearing this. Check out @the_twisted_poppy if you want to see the matching underwear I made.
