Dino-shorts! 🦕🦖🩳 No, I am not done with the @tulapink Roar collection! 😆 These shorts are the perfect example of why we have TNT patterns. I couldn’t decide between using my favorite pajama shorts pattern (See&Sew B6442) or using a pattern I haven’t used before (Simplicity 1165). I choose poorly - I should have used my favorite! 😖 The rise in the back is too short and I even raised it! At the very least I should have sized down. 🙄 And I think I will shorten them by an inch. Other than that, I think they look toooo much like pajama shorts so there is a possibility that they will become sleep shorts and I make a skirt. Eyeing never-used Simplicity 8299 as that option. I made this top awhile ago, but alas, when I accidentally washed my former white top with blue, then you can imagine what happened. It turned into a light blue top that didn’t look intentional. So I decided to tie dye it purple. I also made these shorts as a mock-up from old Egyptian cotton bed sheets for kicks. They turned out pretty cool, so I decided to finish them and die them purple as well. Finally cut into this cute Ankara fabric I bought at Fine Fabrics in 2019. I made this summer set using #s1165 for the shorts and #B6685 for the blouse. I also made a matching tie belt but it blended too well with the fabric, I also tried pairing it with a black ribbon, but that got lost in the fabric too. Biggest change I made this go round with #b6685 is using bias tape to finish the armholes and hemline. #TBT to this two-piece set I made during the Disney AFRICANprintcess collection last year, which I did not wear as a two-piece set. I made this set last year using Simplicity 1165 (#S1165) for the pants and McCall's 6927/McCall's 8059 (#M6927) (#M8059) for the front slit shirt using Montoya Mayo YouTube Tutorial! I gave the front slit top away and kept the pants to this set. The front slit top is so cute but after pulling it over my head so many times I need to make it a little bigger in the bust area, which I will revisit again when I decide to do a series of Revisiting patterns that I have already sewn up. 🤣 I also recorded a tutorial for the elastic pants on my YouTube channel. 🌎 👉🏽 https://youtu.be/Z3Qk0bSeEi0 👈🏽 💗 Both patterns are amazing. The M6927 pattern is a reissue and is currently M8059.
