Pussy cat bow blouse made with satin type fabric from @thetextilecentre made using Mccalls M8147. I made view B, size L (16-18), which took 2m of wide fabric. Mods: I lengthened the front and back by 1.5 inches but still a tad too short for my liking. Reduced the width of the sleeves by 4 inches each side, and reduced the length by 1 inch. I've got arms like an orangutan and feel that the proportion of the sleeve length to the body length was wrong, well for me anyway. #longsleeves23 challenge entry is my favourite make a of this year so far 😍 Thank you to Shannon @thesewingwarehouse for organising this fab challenge. Yes, the sleeves are long but to show off this double sided cotton double gauze fabric, I have to roll them up. It's the reason I got the fabric in the first place from @fabricsgalorelondon 😍 I used french seams for neaten finish inside and also strengthen raglan sleeve seams with iron-on tape. I didn't want to get them mis-shapen and have droopy checks. 8️⃣0️⃣ Golly gosh I’m pretty darn pleased with this one! I took extra time on the finish, getting everything (near) perfect. The pattern is #mccalls8147 size 12/14. I’ve lengthened it by about 5” and used a hoop and button fastening rather than the hook and eye in the pattern. Shall I put Demis Roussos on the stereo? Bringing my best sleeve game for this wearable toile of @mccallpatterncompany #m8147 in a mystery (polyester?) fabric inherited from my mum. Made a straight size L but lengthened it by 2" (could add more tbh) on both bodice and sleeves. Made a right arse of the understitching on the facing but meh who cares. Test version ahead of trying to recreate the cream top with bishop sleeves that Sara Pascoe wore on #GBSB. Next up: jeans to replace the old faithfuls who've finally fallen apart after 10+ years (sob).

I have been digging out some winter clothes including this @mccallpatterncompany Pussy Bow blouse #8147 . I made it a while ago but hadn’t posted the photos that we took last year - so here they are. I have very mixed feelings looking at these pictures - taken before our two beautiful toy poodles passed away in November. Katie is in these pictures and it is lovely remembering that she wanted to photo bomb every sewing photo session - but gosh I miss her and Allie. 
My fabric for this project is very special - Liberty silk chiffon.
The fabric is quite sheer and rather than going for the camisole-underneath option I decided to underline the silk with a fine black cotton voile - but only the front and back pieces. I left the sleeves and collar/bow sheer. 

The Liberty silk gifted by @minervadotcom is a lovely match for this pattern. My only issue is with the pattern sizing. Despite following my measurements exactly, it has come up a bit large. I will get plenty of wear out of this blouse because it will be tucked into a skirt or pants but next time I make it I will size down to allow for the overly generous ease in this pattern. I will also cut it a few centimetres longer.

Luckily on #MeMadeMay2025 Day 3, my sister gave me an excuse to dress up as we celebrated the ribbon cutting of her new cake vending machine at the National Harbor Tanger Outlets! I’m so proud of her! This dress is practically self drafted, I loosely used a raglan sleeve pattern to construct the bodice (#M8147), but hacked it to include a center front zipper and omitted the elastic in the sleeves. I added a wrap skirt that made a feature of the stripes by turning them horizontally with a narrow vertical stripe on one side. When I initially made this, the skirt had a lot more fabric and the ties were much wider. In fixing it, I took out about 10” width from the skirt and narrowed the ties. But, I think I took too much out of the skirt, it was hard to take long strides in this dress, and the front lays a bit funny to me. However, I am pleased that I tried out this design and will try to remember these two rules: 1. Measure twice, cut once, and 2. Make one change at a time. I think it would’ve been perfect with the original fuller skirt and the narrowed ties. #memademay2025 #handmadewardrobe #memadedress #cactussilk

What a stellar pattern! My first summer vacation sewing. Winding down after a long and quite cumbersome spring, I rushed, didn’t mark properly and did some tired sewing. And still, I got a gorgeous garment as a result! The pattern is McCall’s M8147, option A. Beautifully drafted and with two more options included. The only hacks were slight redrafting of the bodice from a-line to straight and narrowing the sleeves. The fabric is gorgeous and easy-to-manage silk from MeterMeter, which sadly seems to be discontinued (please bring it back). About time... I made this #waverlymccalls top four months ago! I find taking photos of my makes so tedious and boring, I'd rather be sewing. I made size M, shortened bodice and sleeves but, ehm, currently shortening sleeves even further and reattaching tightened cuffs too. It just grew on me 😆. The bodice is made of black bamboo jersey from @empressmills1927 and sleeves were made of abstract leopard print lightweight tencel/viscose from @1stforfabrics @firstforfabrics . 5️⃣ This is a toile for a new work top #mccallspatterncompany #m8147 I made the simplest version B with no collar in size M just to check size and length. Size is perfect but as suspected it’s too short. Also a bit gapey at the fastening on the back. The fabric is an amazing print on the worlds most awkward fabric. Nylon probably. Bought in the clearance section and had it for ages. I’d actually consigned it to the linings drawer. Pretty pleased to get something that might be wearable out of it. The print is so nice. Just squeezed this out of the metre I had left. Love the sleeves! PS The shoulders are bumpy due to the fact I overlocker the darts. I might fix this….
