My 2nd entry for #hemadejune22 😁. Really pleased with this cycling shirt made for my son from coolfab technical jersey from @discoveryfabrics using McCalls #M7486 minus the thumb cuffs and did a slight crossover neckband for a closer fit. My hubby is modelling it in the next couple shots before I sent it to my son. He's making noises like he thinks he should have one too. Thanks @adam_sews and @onelisashow for this wonderful challenge. Got me thinking of a few other things I'd like to make for my fellas.

Wearable toile technical fleece pullover from a remnant. Used McCall's#M7486 mashed view b with thumb cuffs from view c. Self drafted in seam pockets rather than using the kangaroo pocket. Hope my son likes it and it fits. Awaiting Discovery Fabrics delivery to make the final version.

💙 MIS CHICOS DE AZUL 💙 Últimamente coso mucho para mí, y sobre todo a mis chicos los tengo muy abandonados en temas costurones, así que había que ponerle remedio al asunto: sudaderas a juego!! 💙 La sudadera de papá es la #m7486 de @mccallpatterncompany me gusta mucho porque no es la típica se sudadera, lleva costadillos y así queda más estilizada. Mientras la cosía estaba un poco agobiada pensando en si le gustaría el resultado y sobre todo si le quedaría bien, porque alguna vez he cosido para él, pero el resultado no ha sido el esperado... menos mal que esta vez ha salido todo bien!! La sudadera del peque es la #sudaderagatuna de @sisa_patterns un patrón gratuito de sudadera con manga raglán. Un básico que siempre viene bien tener entre tus patrones, ya que las de corte raglán me gusta mucho para combinar tejidos diferentes en el delantero/espalda y las mangas. Los dos han quedado muy contentos con sus sudaderas nuevas, tanto es así que el papá enseguida me pidió otra, así que pronto nueva costura para los chicos!! Hay que decir que gran parte del éxito ha sido la tela, que es una pasada, súper suave y muy elástica. Es un punto de sudadera afelpado con certificado GOTS de @ratucos y es ideal!! El color un acierto, porque les favorece a los dos 💙 pero además es súper gustosa al tacto. I wore my spider skirt and the fabric relaxed so much, I didn’t trust it to stay up well, so I decided to remake it into a hooded sweatshirt using the #mccallspatterns #m7486 that I used for my husband. After some #serger issues, I finally got it done! Ironically I had overbought the fabric and I didn’t need to cut into the skirt. Oh well. I’ve learned this is not my favorite type of fabric. Knocked out another #m7486 this weekend, the German 🇩🇪 One of the fun parts of watching this pattern come together is where the color block sections all meet at the sleeve and if you’re lucky, form a very sharp, precise little peak.

Finished #mccallspatterns #m7486 as a first try. My #singerserger 14-78 blades were ruined by a pin and I can only find replacements for £37 which seems too much. I did the best to finish it and think I did ok considering. At least I have somewhere to begin for altering the pattern to fit better.

#m7486 This is my fourth and final for now version of this #mccallspattern I wanted something shiny to wear for #figureskating because even if I’m an adult at the very low end of ability, I still want to shine. Every iteration of this pattern, I learned something new. This is what I learned with this one: I knew fabric selection made a big difference, but the difference in fit between this version and the spider version is huge and that’s using the same exact pattern tracing for both. My brother sewing machine tends to eat my stretch fabric so I tried out a technique I read about online, which is sewing with paper under the fabric. It worked for hemming (I used a serger for the rest), but I’ve got some paper bits in the seam. I’m thinking they’ll dissolve in the wash. This hood is way too big and looks more like a nun’s headwear. I’ll keep it since I don’t wear a hood when I skate, but I’ll have to adjust that in the future. It’s on to more Christmas themed projects now!
