I’m observing Me Made May - Day 25 in my brand new top and linen pants outfit. I used two patterns from Butterick’s Spring 2022 release and fabric from Joann to create this look. For the top I used Butterick 6875 - View C. This is Size 12 - no changes other than to make the elastic at the sleeve hems a little longer. I am crazy about this pattern! 🥹 It was so easy, and turned out so lovely. I used a silky print fabric from Joann. The neckline is finished with larger than average facing pieces - I really like that, as the neckline feels more stable and secure than the average neckline finished with a facing. For the pants I used Butterick 6880 - View C. This is Size 14 with only one minor edit for fit. These are probably my favorite pants that I have ever made! That notch at the CF waistband is fire. 🔥🔥🔥🔥 They were supposed to feature an exposed zipper closure at center back, but I didn’t follow the instructions carefully enough and messed it up and so ended up with a regular enclosed zipper instead. I’ll try for the exposed zipper next time I make the pattern. And earlier, coincidentally, I ran across an inspiring picture of pockets with similar notches up top (courtesy of @emma_jane_sews). Next time I might experiment with making notches along the tops of the front patch pockets, too. The red linen was from Joann. I bought it last year to make my husband a shirt and … here we are. I am making it out of the beautiful sequined fabric that I got from a thrift store. This drafting job went a little faster than the last one. I am looking forward to sewing something fancy together.

Fun fur babies for frolics in freezing fahrenheit.🤣Once again I used Butterick B6880 for the jacket by extending the body and sleeves then added a lining to their cropped version. Fun fur is notoriously difficult to work with, but slow and steady wins the day. Tips: Make sure the nap is going in the same direction on all pieces, use a longer stitch length, large quilt needle 100/16, and reduce seam allowance to 1/4 inch to avoid bulk. The bag is self drafted with a carpet bag frame, flexi foam and bamboo handles. I sewed something for myself, with no event deadline, just for the pure sake of enjoyment for the first time since becoming a mother 4+ years ago. Because while Halloween costumes and fancy events to make clothes for are fun they can also be stressful to get the thing perfectly executed without resorting to a week of panic sewing to get it done on time. Unfortunately I did this during my luteal phase when my water retention and bloating are at their max. And I didn’t take this into account when doing my multiple fittings to get them *just right* thus the day that I woke up without that extra padding coincided with the day I proudly finished these shorts and excitedly put them on to realise they are about 2-3 inches too big around the midsection for me 🙈😂 thoroughly disappointed that I will need to wait nearly a month to actually wear them. #B6880 #sewingclothes #sewingfun
