Finished up the third project that I had cut out! A little boxy t-shirt to go with the joggers I had sewn up earlier. With this project, I got to practice serging in the round, which I’m still getting the hang of. I watched a couple tutorials and the best method I found so far was serging all the way around until the starting point thread is cut off, disengaging the blade, sewing forward just a bit, then releasing the presser foot and removing the fabric, lowering the presser foot and sewing forward again. Does anyone use a different or better method?! Please lmk! 🤔💜 I had previously used this fabric to make a shirt for my mom, a pair of joggers, and now this t-shirt. The fabric isn’t very me, but I enjoyed the practice on my serger. I’ve used up most of it not now and there are only little scraps left for scrunchies or headbands. Finished this cozy lounge shirt just in time for my trip to Sandbridge, VA, last week! ☀️ I used the Simplicity S9337 pattern in a medium and opted for a 3/8" seam allowance instead of the 5/8" recommended in the instructions. I then serged the edges for a clean finish. ✂️ I tried out the @coatsandclark Eloflex thread for the first time and was blown away! It's stretchy, easy to work with, and gave my stitches the perfect amount of flexibility. I'll definitely be using it for more knit projects. The fit is perfect for lounging around and enjoying a hot cup of tea. I love the beautiful green color of this knit fabric. It was the perfect addition to my vacation wardrobe. Simplicity #S9337 for my son and I have Thoughts. Medium is men’s size large and the sweatshirt still fits but snuggly. *the legs are petite* I’m 5”5 and they are far too short on me, and they are too short on the packet model. I had to add 3 inches to make them fit my lad at 5 ft 9, but the position of the add length line means redrafting the pattern as it’s tapered. It’s worth doing because of the pockets alone, but next time I’m taking 5cm off the waistband as it comes out too thick. Fabric from pound fabrics, the (cotton) grey with red stripes is fantastic, soft on the back and super stretch, the red sweatshirt has very little stretch but is also cotton, they only have a few colours left at £4.50, the rest are £8.50, so I grabbed more of both fabrics for my lad’s stash.

I decided to change it to a laced-up chain top with eyelets after seeing this on the Forever 21 website. This will allow me to wear a cute tank or sports bra underneath in the summer. I’m more proud I learned how to put a stopper on the drawstring that was until my kids were like can you fix my sweatpants? I have TWO new makes to share today! First I have made a #s9337 from @simplicitymccallsuk. I made the XL in the sweatshirt out of French terry from @iseefabric along with the ribbing! I didn’t make any adjustments to this pattern, honestly because I was lazy and already had the XL traced from ages ago. It’s obviously quite oversized on me. When I make it again I will size down one or two, do a smaller SA on the neckband since it is quite wide, and make much smaller cuffs for the wrists. The piece they give you makes a very loose cuff and I prefer tighter. I finished it off with a label from @kylieandthemachine and some top stitching. I did actually do double needle along all the hems and the shoulder seams so it would look more like a RTW sweatshirt. Next up is the @closetcorepatterns #coretee which is a lovely free pattern. I make a size 16! I used waffle knit from Iseefabric in the same color and leftover ribbing for the next. I did twin needle the neckband but just used a zigzag on the hem for this. It also has a matching “comfy” label! I made Ian a spring jacket! Here it is on this sunny morning at Nose Hill. It's made from a very lightweight ripstop fabric from @oursocialfabric. The pattern is McCalls M7986, view B altered to have a hood. I also changed the welt pockets to have a zipper! The fabric was a challenge to work with (very slippery) but I think it turned out great. It's the perfect jacket for sun protection and for biking to work in the morning. All I have wanted to wear this winter has been sweatshirts. And I have exactly one. 😂. Until now! This is my DREAM sweatshirt. It’s a great fit and length for me. And the fabric is some of the nicest fabric I’ve ever sewn. There’s a plan to add some embroidery to the front (as was my original intent). I just have to stop wearing it long enough to add it. Pattern: (TOP) a mash up of #closetcoremileend and #s9337 from Simplicity. I liked the fit of the Simplicity pattern but the slanted side seams of the Mile End pattern. So I hacked the Simplicity pattern to add slanted side seams. I also added pockets! It was a bit of trial and error, but I got there in the end. I made a size large but added 1/2 inch to the side seams and sewed nearly all the seams at a 3/8 inch seam allowance instead of the 5/8 the pattern called for. (BOTTOM) The pants are #closetcorepietra that never made the grid. The fabric is from @quiltingforcommunity, unknown content but maybe some wool? The pattern is very small houndstooth, predominantly black and white with flecks of red, green, yellow, and blue. Fabric: A deliciously soft and perfectly stretchy bamboo/cotton knit from @lafinchfabrics_new. It sewed up so nicely. Really a dream to work with - cannot recommend enough! (Sound on for the video of the fabric if you want to hear my dog Ginger loudly playing with a ball in the background 🐶) I have plans to make another one, and I may just buy another colorway from @lafinchfabrics_new 🙃. Happy sewing Sunday! Not much to see here. Just a test run of #s9337 views an and c. This fabric is a SUPER thin French terry from @voguefabrics and the pants ended up being pretty see through. I am obsessed with making white clothing for some reason. Not really sure why? It just feels luxurious to me- even with really inexpensive fabric like this. Here are the details: - I made the size xs of the sweatshirt, but cropped the body another 2.25 inches for a better fit for me. - For the pants I made a size small throughout. The ankles are a little baggy, so I will probably take them in another 1/2 inch if I make this again. I love a good jogger and have long been a fan of the @truebias #hudsonjoggers. These remind me of them with a higher rise and slightly looser fit (which I am liking these days). Again- this was my test run so I feel a little meh about the finished product, but it was a quick sew so if it ends up in the donate or pj pile who cares?! Some sews are like that! weekend well spent 💖 Joe and I had a great time exploring in St. Louis in our #memakes. ✔️not only did I make my coat, athleisure set and my shacket… I also made Joe’s shacket. 😮‍💨 (disclaimer: my quilted coat and his shacket are recent makes) ✔️we went to the gateway arch AND to the top. 😅 ✔️had custard at Ted Drewe’s ✔️ate at Lambert’s cafe on the way to STL. ✔️had a nice Valentine’s Day dinner at a local restaurant named, Robust. ❌We missed the toasted ravioli, but there will be a next time. 🤞🏽 My sew along for the shacket is live & so is the STL travel vlog. I whipped this sweatshirt up in one evening on the 1st of February but with the excitement of a new puppy arriving in our house, this is the first chance I have had to take a photo.
