For the first time in three excruciating weeks, I actually feel like sewing something. I bought a pair of joggers when I was in Australia, and I loved them and wore them to death. So I am making a similar style with @mccallpatterncompany #M8367 pants. I’ll make View C, using Tencel Twill in Willow Green, which is still available on the website. These pants have been in my to-do pile for ages but I finally got around to them this month. This is McCalls 8367 in View B. ⁣ ⁣ I cut a straight size Large, and made no modifications here. The fabric is a wool gabardine from @fabricwarehouse_rahway. I did add topstitching to the leg seams, pocket flaps, and outseams. ⁣The seams are simply overlocked on the interior. ⁣ If I did it again I’d simplify the amount of elastic rows in the waistband and probably add an inch to the length. Finished my @mccallpatterncompany #M8367 pants. These are much cuter on than they look on the mannequin. I made a slightly modified view C. I eliminated the belt and carriers. Other than that they were straightforward. But this is not a pattern for beginners. You need to do some precise sewing for the elastic channels, and threading the elastic requires the right tools: a bodkin for the ankles, and a bodkin or a casing threader for the waistline. The elastic nearly did me in, but I’m glad I persevered. You know that fall has arrived when the beach is empty. It’s now time for comfy clothes. And cargo pants. Here are some details on my pants, #M8367, that I paired with my batwing caramel top, #B6996. I made them in tencel twill fabric that has a lovely smooth handle and that will just get softer with wear. I made the pants one size down with all the options except for the middle insert. I eliminated the thigh seam for a sleeker look, joining the top and mid section of the legs. I used this opportunity to shorten the legs. Overall, I removed approximately 3in in length spread out over the entire leg. For the waist, I made 3 channels instead of 4, but lengthen the crotch seam by 1/4 in. Each elastic is cut a different length for a contour fit. Overall, I’m pleased with the final fit and look. Fabric and pattern from @the_fabricclub . ————————— L’automne… place aux pantalons cargo. Voici quelques détails de mon cargo #M8367 en serger de tencel de doux et fluide de @club_tissus que j’ai assorti avec mon top caramel. J’ai taillé une grandeur plus petite et éliminé la couture de la cuisse en joignant les deux pièces du haut du pantalon. J’ai réduit la longueur environ 8 cm, réparti tout le long de la jambe. Pour la taille, j’ai cousu 3 canaux au lieu de 4 mais j’ai allongé la fourche de 6 mm. Les élastique sont coupés d’une grandeur différente pour un fit contour. Let’s welcome fall, the season of cozy wear. I’m feeling so comfortably chic in my latest makes, an oversized caramel sweater paired with cargo pants. For the sweater, I used Butterick 6996 in a soft and smooth cotton interlock with matching rib knit for the collar, waistband and cuffs. To fit my petite frame, I shortened both the sleeves and bodice by 2 inches. I also reduced the front a bit more since the pattern was drafted with extra room for the pocket which I did not do. The collar also needed a bit of adjustment in length given the stretch of the fabric. This yummy sweater will be a favourite this fall season with its batwings sleeves and unique curved collar with V-neckline. The cargo pants are McCalls 8367 sewn in the wonderfully soft tencel twill. Je me sens tellement chic et confortable dans mes dernières créations, un pull caramel oversize et un pantalon cargo. Pour le top, j’ai utilisé Butterick 6996 dans un interlock de coton doux et lisse avec un tricot côtelé assorti pour le col et les bandes de taille et poignets. Pour l’adapter à ma petite taille, j’ai raccourci les manches et le corsage de 5 cm. J’ai également réduit un peu plus le devant puisque le patron a été conçu avec de l’ampleur supplémentaire pour la poche que je n’ai pas fait. Le col avait également besoin d’un peu d’ajustement en longueur étant donné l’élasticité du tissu. Ce délicieux pull sera un favori cet automne avec ses manches chauve-souris et son col incurvé unique avec encolure en V. One of my pet peeves about Big 1 patterns is that they over-estimate the amount of fabric needed, often significantly. Case in point: @mccallpatterncompany #M8367 says 2 7/8 yards of 60 inch fabric. When I finished cutting, using their layout, I had 3/8+ left over. For now, I’m still jumping on snow banks. Here is another Remy Raglan top from @sewhouse7 . This one is in a soft double gauze cotton with a taupe leopard jacquard weave, from @mimifabricscanada . It’s a cozy and warm make and, since it’s breathable, it will also be perfect to wear all year round. I paired it with my cargo pants, #m8367, sewn last fall.
