I purchased the flannel fabric from @joann_stores. Buttons are from Amazon. I only gave myself two weeks to make, mostly working on it during the work week after work. Happy with how it came out. This is a great pattern and I will probably reuse 🤎🤎

I finally decided to sew the remaining 2 buttons on this shacket with a few hours to go this year😬#procastination. This shacket was originally meant for me but I fell in love with a denim version I saw on the Minerva YouTube channel and now I want to make that for myself. It has been a hot minute since I posted a me-made for myself on the grid. I finished this shacket back in February on my birthday weekend and have worn it a bunch, but no pics ‘til today. It’s #simplicity9388 #S9388 with patch handwarmer pockets instead of chest and side seam. This is my fave basic jacket pattern. I’ve used it three times now for very different looks. The burrito yoke is lined with a scrap patchwork I made for another project a while back (that I never finished). Fabric is from JoAnn, a long time ago, I’ve had it for ages. New #memade #shacket out of the sewing machine! 🍁 This was not planned and it is almost too late for the season, but a couple of weeks ago I went to check out the sales at @oursocialfabric and I found these great combo of wool and wool blend fabrics, and the pattern (new) for $2! All materials and pattern were less than $20. It was just perfect. I only had about a meter of the plaid and half a meter of the red, just enough for the length of the jacket. If I messed up any piece other than the pockets, I wouldn’t have more fabric to cut another piece. So I made a muslin in white to practice and get the right fit. Glad I did because I learned some things and my size XS muslin was too tight. ✏️ Pattern is Simplicity S9388. I made a size S graded to M at the hem. 💡 Modifications: Contrast fabric on undercollar and inside of pocket flaps. No in-seam pockets because I didn’t like the placement. Contrast cuffs. Another iteration of a #tntpattern. This pattern is definitely a comfort sew and all my versions get a lot of wear. //Pattern: #s9388 @simplicity_creative_group, size M, view B. //Mods: Curved hem that’s finished with single fold bias tape. The curve is eyeballed with no science behind it. Button placket is 3.5” in width before attaching. Idk how this compares with the given pattern piece as I don’t use that piece anymore. //Fabric: Linen from @linenlab.co.kr. Lining fabric is #thrifted from @makingspacethrift and is found under the pocket flap and collar, as well as the internal lining. Worn with RTW jeans. #sewing #thelinenlab #memade

This jacket brings me so much joy! It’s the 3rd jacket I’ve made from #S9388. I love this pattern, it’s so easy and comes together quickly once you know what you’re doing. This time I sized down and cropped it to give it a more feminine look with this floral denim. Both denims used came from @moodfabrics and have stretch. The Facts about the Shakets: 1. I found the perfect plaid fabric that included ALL the colors my clients wanted… but it was the LAST 1.5yd of the bolt 2. Color blocking quickly became the solution to complete the desired looks 3. Incorporating four solids with the plaid was AMBITIOUS 😳 4. Making copies of the reference pattern sketches (@simplicity_creative_group #S9388) and 🖍️coloring it is always super helpful and important to map out the colors BEFORE cutting 5. Attention to detail was at an all-time HIGH; I constantly changed out the threads, specially for the topstitches🪡 6. This is my third custom apparel, CROSS COUNTRY project - my clients trusted me with JUST their measurements (CA ✈️ NJ) 7. I finished early and USPS still stressed me out a bit 🤦🏽‍♀️📦 8. Having access to a sewing machine on the other side came in clutch for last minute minor alterations! 🙏🏽 (THANK YOU, Ma) 9. I’m so glad I was able to be there. First, to make sure my work was 💯 and ensure my clients were happy. And then to get a chance to admire my work at its intended event and to celebrate with the fam!! 🫶🏽 10. This cold wintery day reminded me to post these photos from a few months ago. Unisex jacket pattern by @simplicity_creative_group #s9388 in size M. The fabric is wool blend from @joann_stores . The fit is nicely oversized fit, perfect over thick sweat underneath. After these photos were taken, I noticed the pocket bottom peaks from the hem when you put your hands in, so I attached it by thread chain to the side seam. I’m wearing one of my all time favorite patterns by @truebias #marlosweater in wool boucle from @fabricplacebasement and #nikkotop underneath and @megannielsenpatterns #mnash in stretchy corduroy.

Happy Halloween 🎃 The month of October has flown by with more projects in my head than on my grid!! I did make two #sewyourview projects and have another almost complete. I had to sew up #s3019 from #sewnadaptive and was hoping to complete a second jacket however it will make an appearance soon.I also have the fabric to match that gorgeous yoke to make a skirt or pants to match. This is a really great pattern with some interesting details. I love the yoke detail in the back that extends to the front, so many ways to add your own personal flair.I have another in view B almost complete and the high low feature is really flattering for everyone. I saw the tip on the pocket sizing to 80% after I sewed this one but used that sizing on my second version. Paired the jacket with Lynn’s #s2069 pants that I love. I know they’re white but #iwearwhatiwant If you are not following @sewnadaptive you should be- they are doing an amazing job for the disabled community. I also sewed #s9388 with some scrap fabric I had and it is the third one I have made. Another fun and relatively quick pattern to sew for a great fall jacket. Celebrating #memademay by going on a trip!!! Jk, this trip has actually been planned for 10 months. But the timing was coincidentally great to get some #airportselfies of my #memade outfit for a day of travel. //Patterns: #truebiasjesse by @truebias , size 6; and #thebayflares by @the.hemming, size 4. //Mods: The top is hemmed halfway between the cropped and full length versions. I wasn’t sure what size to make the pants after cruising the hashtag, so I went with what the pattern recommended, which is a size 4. I wanted to use a wider elastic so I lengthened the very top of the pant by an inch or so, which turned out to be unnecessary. I hemmed it by 3/4” to keep a little more length and the hem hits about 1/2”-1” above the ground, which is my preferred length for this style of pant. At first, the pant felt and looked tight on my thighs and 🍑 and I thought I made a horrible mistake with the size. And then I wore them around my house for a bit and they loosened up enough for me to like it and not have to recut it. //Fabric: The softest charcoal ribbed knit thrifted from @makingspacethrift. It gets sheer when stretched out, another reason why I was worried about the size and tightness.
