When I saw the Bio Twill Pleated Pants from Tibi I was intrigued, but knew I could DIY something similar for far less than $695, so here she is....#Vogue1958 from the Spring 2023 collection. It’s a double pleat not a triple pleat, and it doesn’t have the adjustable belt at the back or the fancy pockets but I think it dupes the vibe.⁣ ⁣ I had this Swiss Cotton/Nylon/Elastane 4-Way Stretch twill from @fabricmart because I was originally planning something like a Stella Chino but never got around to it. I’m glad I didn’t because this was such an easy project. ⁣ ⁣ I made 2 “modifications”: ⁣ 1. I sized up 1 size from my normal 16 to an 18. I knew I didn’t want these sitting up by my belly button like the model on the pattern envelope. Since it has belt loops I can play around with where I want them to sit on me.⁣ ⁣ 2. I added length to the inseam which was easy because these pants are giant rectangles. My final inseam ended up being 32.5” which gives me plenty to cuff up.⁣ ⁣ Since I knew I was going to be cuffing them, I used a flat felled seam on the outseams, and a serged seam with topstitch for the inseams to make the undersides neat. I’m thrilled with how these pants turned out, especially now that my size is sold out at Tibi :) I spent $30 on fabric, used a single straggler horn button leftover from a coat (How satisfying!), and found a zipper for less than a buck in the bargain bin at Fabric Warehouse that matched my fabric better than the one I found at Joann’s. ⁣ ⁣ How should I attach the cuff to keep it in place? The OG Bio Twill has snaps but I don’t have a decent snap applicator, I was thinking of one of those swift tack guns like the one that keeps popping up in my targeted ads. I’ll probably mostly wear these cuffed versus with a heel but I like the versatility of being able to make them different lengths, so I’m hesitant to stitch down the cuff in a permanent way. I just posted a very detailed review of this new Vogue pattern #V2051 to my story highlights. After some roadblocks I finally got to try them on and was immediately obsessed. They’re giving all the ease and comfort of a horseshoe or barrel shaped jean but the tapered leg shape means they’re not dragging on the ground. Best of both worlds!
