I think this is one of my favorite things I’ve made! I got the inspo from the last photo. I learned a lot from this make and did my first pattern hacking! The main dress is McCalls #m8239 and the sleeves are from #m6891 The color blocking was not included in either of the patterns and was my learning experience (not perfect but done). This dress will get a lot of wear during the cooler months but is so cosy with the flannel body and the velvet blocking. Also shout out to the sixties inspired cuffs! 😍

Well there is no easy way to get a photo of my sewing when my husband is busy/ refuses to participate. I just have to try every mirror in the house and look stupid. I made this dress from McCalls 8239, version A. I used clearance fabric from fabricland for the body and fabric scraps from artsjunktion for the collar which had a nice bow print. 2 lessons learned….don’t post serge garments because you might catch a bit of fabric and make a hole and don’t interface thick fabric…that collar is so stiff I feel like I am in Elizabethan times. #mccallspatterns #m8239 #artsjunktion #fabricland

Made with a stunning shade of royal blue silk crepe de chine, McCall’s #m8239 is my new perfect dress. I love everything about this pattern. It’s elegant yet effortless. The slightly loose fit with biased cut skirt makes the dress so comfortable to wear. Pattern is rated average but it’s on the easy side. The only tricky part is probably the collar and front facing. Recently @simplicitymccallsaustralia asked if I'd like a couple of patterns in exchange for posting images when I was done. One of the patterns I chose was #m8239, purely for the Wednesday Addams vibes. I used cute Halloween qc from @spotlightstores and my very last skerrick of @rubystarsociety for the collar. I chose my size according to the finished measurements (cup size options, hooray!) but it still ended up a smidge roomy in the bodice. I also made a mistake and didn't cut the bodice on the fold 🙃 Made it work though 🎃👻💀🧙‍♀️🦷

The dress of my dreams - I made this for a work party and was the most dressed up by miles 💃🏻 I used McCall’s 8239 for the bodice and sleeves (leaving out the collar and surrounding sections) and a simple 3-tiered skirt. The fabric is a viscose challis from @minervadotcom - a bit heavier than other challises, which meant the skirt didn’t need a lining, although I lined the bodice side back and front with an old shirt. I also added a bit of elastic to the front and back as well for ease of fit, and a lace-up back detail for extra medieval flair! finally finished my #m8239 make, i cut this out over a month ago. made with a couple rayons from @spotlightstores. I definitely would make some adjustments next time like shortening the bodice and the shoulders and tightening the cuffs, but i definitely will make it again, it was very smooth. also my first side zip installation

McCall’s M8239 I made this @mccallpatterncompany #m8239 at the end of 2021 and realized I haven’t worn it yet so I had to wear it before it gets too warm. I love the details of this dress but they do get lost in the print. But I do also love this floral twill I bought from @stylemakerfabrics.
