Shorts, capris, or pants!! Which ones do you most like to wear? I chose to make both of these drawstring shorts in two different lengths. The white eyelet ones are in the shortest length, and the yellow eyelet shorts are a couple of inches longer. While I used eyelet from the fabulous @farmhousefabrics , you could use any bottom-weight fabric. Not sure what “bottom-weight” fabric is? It is fabric that is medium or heavier weight. In addition to what I used, you could use a denim, corduroy, tweed, or just a mid-weight cotton. There are endless choices...the main thing you want to make sure of is that the fabric you choose is not see-through or a quilting cotton (these fabrics are typically very thin). My Trouser quest continues. These are my 2nd version of McCalls 8063. This time I added my own waistband inner 'facing' to create a channel for inserting the belt tie rather than folding over as per pattern. I also made the tie: at the back it's elastic with belt ties attached on either end. To improve fit around waist, I took in 4 cm at waist on each side and improvised some back darts as well. Sort of works! Size XL (modified waist), with deep hem to shorten. Another day in paradise - in my #nexusblouse in a pebble linen from @tessutifabrics and a re-run of my #m8063 linen shorts. The pebble wash linen is probably a bit heavy for this blouse but I really like the extra structure it gives the big sleeves.

Friday night I was shopping for some much needed work dress pants. After being super frustrated and refusing to spend $50 on pants that didn't quite fit right (thank you fibroids) I decided to go to Goodwill where I found this cute border print bedsheet that is going to make a cute skirt for $3.00. Then today I popped into Goodwill again (different one) and found a Buzz Lightyear sheet that is going to become something for Malcolm (if I am allowed to cut it.) Then onto Fabricland where I found a couple of patterns for pants that I am going to make. For the test run, I pulled out the vintage floral bedsheet although after looking at the lace trim, I am going to make them into comfy pajama pants instead. Sooo, I bought this camping fabric to be my test run for the one pattern, and assuming they are a success, I will have fun pants for Girl Guide camps! While at Fabricland I couldn't pass up the $4/m Minion fabric to make Malcolm pants too. And the final item in my #srtl2024 sew recreate the look challenge inspired by Lauren Manoogian are these McCalls 8063 trousers with added drawstrings on the sides!! I definitely haven’t perfected these, they still need a bit of fiddling around with the fit, but I’m happy with the overall look of them. I absolutely love the originals and wanted to see how close I could get to recreating them using the McCalls pattern, adding one in seam allowance to the sides and threading through twill tape as drawstrings.
