Class sweater embroidery added (by someone else) mid-project 🫶. The pattern is Mccalls 5252 #m5252, a unisex vest/jacket pattern designed for fleece. I am using a stretchier fabric (French terry), but the sweater is larger than expected. I am so happy to have finally sewn up this designer Sherpa fleece fabric from @califabrics that I bought just about an entire year ago! This is McCalls #m5252 which is a unisex pattern for fleece jackets and vests. It has both full zipper options and this pullover style which is so cozy. I love that the front panel is cut with side sections that make for a pouch pocket. I will probably construct the interior pocket a little differently next time (I had to take a break from it one evening because I just couldn’t get my head around the instructions) and raise the pocket opening a bit, but overall it’s an easy to follow pattern. I had to shorten the bodice by about 2 inches because it’s unisex and I chose to make the sleeves an elastic cuff. The fabric was easy to work with and luckily my overlocker didn’t mind it at all! Such a cozy make for the beginning of a rainy spring week! ☔️ Plus, I already have plans for the vest version! Hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving. 🤗 I finally finished up my very first Sherpa jacket for hubby on Thanksgiving day. It took me a whole week to wrap it up 😅 This Sherpa fabric is so thick and I’m glad my sewing machine could handle it. The pattern I used for this jack is #m5252 view E. It’s a very loose fit pattern. Also made some modifications for this one. I added the lining, and zippers to the pockets. These pictures were taken before hubby tried it on. I love the oversized style jacket and 😍 I’ve always wanted to make a jacket like this. After hubby tried it on, I decided to add elastics to the hood and cuffs. This is the last of the six men’s pullovers I made in February and my oldest son (who is the recipient of this final version) gets the benefit of the learning curve that took place with the previous five. On this version, I have again cut down the traditional collar to make it more of a Mandarin collar. (I settled on cutting 1 1/2” from the width of the collar to get this version...I like the proportions.). Again, I made the panel below the zipper from one piece of fabric rather than the three separate panels the pattern calls for. Another #5 zipper from my roll of zipper by the yard from @zipperstop (so much easier than trying to keep various lengths on hand). And my coverstitch machine and I are getting along so well these days...the inside AND the outside of the collar look terrific. Even better? I found the fabric card from @blackbirdfabrics (I love those cards!), so I can tell you this version (and one other) is 100% Cotton black and white “Herringbone Cotton French Terry” from last year. So, there you have it...six pullovers in February for the men in my family: Three birthdays, plus the three promised replacements. Mission accomplished! Honestly, it makes me so happy to see the people I care about wearing things I made especially for them. I’ve finally finished this M5252 Fleece Jacket for my lovely aunt. It’s her Christmas present 8 months late! 🎄🎁 I’ve never worked with fleece before, or properly inserted a regular zipper, and both first-time experiences were a success! I can’t figure out how to sew past the zipper pull on the machine, though - I had to hand-sew that small section. From finish back to start ➡️ Cropped fur fleece Made with green and yellow fur and green bias binding from @fabworksmillshop I used McCalls M5252 view C @simplicitymccallsuk @simplicity_creative_group I shortened the body by 6 inches to obtain the cropped aesthetic - this resulted in overlap between the top and bottom pockets which caused a few construction challenges! Considering the amount that I've worn this fleece this is the best photo I seem to have.... Made this jacket, just in time for end of summer. Added a lightweight woven wool lining for a bit of warmth and body, lining was not in pattern so bit of a challenge, hand sewed it in as unsure how else to do successfully, with hindsight would have been much easer to insert before hemming and machine it into hems. Also didn’t quite appreciate how visible contrasting lining would be. Omitted breast pocket because I misread the instructions. Used cut pieces to make a small inside pocket instead. Actually think the lining looks nicer than the outside. Sleeves are far too long because pattern is unisex but other than that I’m happy and have learnt lots from my mistakes. #m5252 #mccallspatterns #mccalls5252 #camo #camouflage #memade

I apologize for the terrible lighting. It's a blustery overcast day here in Canada 🇨🇦. This is my last entry for #agtn24 run by Alison @sewlikedotty . My hubby has a thing for fish, so last May, when we were in British Columbia I bought this beautiful embroidery patch. I decided to use it on a fleece vest. The pattern is #m5252. I hacked the chest pocket to open at the top instead of the side so he can safely carry his extra glasses in it. This fleece is so thick that it was difficult to sew on my machine. The stitching is a bit wavy along the zipper in particular. Hope he won't notice too much. I'll probably still sew a few more gifts but this challenge is a great way to get a head start on holiday crafting. Thanks Alison from across the pond.

I’m very behind on posting things I’ve made recently, but I made this fleece for Ash at the beginning on October for his birthday. I actually really enjoyed making this, and have one planned for myself, which was actually meant to have been made before this one! It is near on impossible to get a serious picture of Ash, so these are as good as I was getting! ( ignore all of the dog hairs, I lint rolled this SO many times!) The fabric is a anti-pill polar fleece from @poundfabrics, which I was actually very impressed with! The pattern is the #m5252

This is Number 2 of the three fleeces I promised to make for my husband to replace his lost forever favorites. Same McCalls M5252 outerwear pattern, but I modified this in a few ways: made a split hi-low hem...4” longer in the back. (Next time I’ll add another inch to front, while keeping the 4” addition to the back.) I also shortened the collar by about 1!1/2”...it’s not quite a mandarin collar, but it’s much shorter than drafted. Finally, I made the panel below the zipper one piece cut on the fold rather than the three pieces as drafted. As before, I excluded the pockets...my husband doesn’t want them. A pullover fit my second son made from lightweight French terry (that I’m pretty sure came from Blackbird Fabrics, but I don’t have the label...I’m so embarrassed!). I modified my trusty #M5252 pullover pattern by eliminating the three panel lower front and lengthening the sleeves by two inches. (I had added 4” to the overall length—he’s 6’6”, but took it off again when he wanted a shorter look.). I love how different the result looks with the French terry compared to the fleece I typically use.
