This pattern is part of #makenine2023 for the summer skirt. This is the pattern that won for the skirt. This sew-along is for Simplicity 9791. Simplicity 9791 features easy-to-sew tops, a three-tiered skirt, and yoke-front pants. The top features a cropped sleeveless option (View A) or a cropped puff sleeve option (View B). This top also has a button front closure in the front and darts for shaping. The three-tiered skirt and the pants feature a yoke front (interesting). The pants come with patch pockets, and both the skirt and pants feature an invisible back zipper. First, I'm grateful to the lady at the cutting table at @joann_stores who helped me decide this black matrix cosplay fabric was going to be a dress and not the safe workout clothes I was going to make AND @joann_stores also had this funky fabric with the gorgeous little afroed sistars with gold hoops! I made @mimigstyle @simplicity_creative_group #S9791. It is a quick sew BUTT (pun intended) the fit adjustments were monster! I purchased some mesh from @fabricwholesaledirect for my facing but it wasn't heavy enough (or wasnt power mesh) and continues to roll under my dress, I'm going to have to stitch it at the seams so it will stay still. I cut for 3 different pattern sizes (36-33-46) I had to augment the pattern for my hips. So I had to take it in MANY times before finding the right fit. The robe pattern is the @peppermintmagazine robe pattern. This particular one is discontinued, but there is a current shorter one. This is my new Simplicity S9791 top. I spotted the pattern in the Simplicity sale last weekend and thought I would give it a try. The puff sleeves are just fab and worth the effort. I used a cotton poplin fabric from the #fabriccounter . Every single item I make is from thrifted, secondhand fabrics, because there is PLENTY of cloth in the world and we don’t need to be producing more! I’ve used bedsheets, curtains, blankets and tablecloths. Patterns/details 1: self drafted full circle skirt. Fabric is thrifted Ikea 100% cotton paisley duvet cover 2. Simplicity #s8014 dress. Fabric is thrifted vintage JC Penney flannel bedsheet. Suede boots thrifted 3. Top is Simplicity #s9791. Fabric is thrifted paisley cotton tablecloth. Jeans are new from River Island (one of the only new purchases made this year) 4. Simplicity #s9759 pullover. Fabric is a thrifted camouflage quilt. Cowboy boots are thrifted Durango 5. Self drafted mash up of Simplicity #s9749. Fabric is a thrifted tablecloth. 6. Self drafted jacket made from a thrifted (damaged) quilt #quiltjacket. I selected the areas that were the least damaged and fixed up any holes. 7. Simplicity #s9896 jacket. Fabric is a vintage wool blanket and scrap black and white checked cotton from pyjama pants. This was murder to make 😂. 8. Simplicity #s9327 dress. Fabric is thrifted white cotton bedsheet. LOVED this pattern. Had to do an #fba to accommodate my tiddies. Belt is thrifted. 9. McCalls #m7950 dress. Fabric is thrifted Waverley cotton curtains. I’m obsessed with this dress and wear it all the time in summer. Cowboy boots are thrifted. 10. Vogue #v1994 jumpsuit. Fabric is thrifted cotton canvas. I use this mainly for gardening. Or if I need to be a Ghostbuster. 11. McCalls #m7937 top. Fabric is thrifted Cotton pillowcase. There’s an udders joke here somewhere! Jeans are also new River Island (I bought 4 pairs in different colours because they fit amazing and I will wear them forever) 12. McCalls #m8343 coat. Fabric is a 100% wool thrifted vintage Hudson’s Bay blanket. It is also lined and SO warm. 13. Simplicity S9692 coat. Made from a thrifted wool blanket and leftover sherpa fabric. Quilted lining with vintage cotton fabric. This is probably the best thing i’ve ever made. I wear it all the time.
