Next project from my stash is something I haven’t sewn for a while: a big 4 pattern. This is McCalls 8030 view C, sewn as is without any adjustments. Usually the issue with the McCalls block for me is that if it fits in the waist, the bodice is way too big and the hips are way too small. But seeing as this one was an oversized shirt dress, I figured it would probably be fine so I chose the size that would fit my hip measurement. The fabric is a deadstock viscose linen blend from lyrical fabrics. Interestingly, I have a button up shirt from Banana Republic in the exact same fabric so I guess that’s where the deadstock came from. . I’ve been having a bit of a style crisis around dresses, never feeling quite like myself in anything that I try on or make. This one seems closer to what I’m trying to figure out, but I still feel like I’m not quite there yet. I have a number of dresses in the sewing queue though, so it will be an interesting experiment to see if I make something that I will actually wear in real life and feel comfortable in. ✨ M8030 Shirt Dress! ✨ Here’s some photos of my #M8030 shirt dress. TBH, it had been sitting in the corner waiting to be finished for a very long time. It will never get worn as a dress, but I will most probably wear it as a tunic. The length is too short for my liking, but I love it! 💖 I made the small size, and all the seams have been French seamed. I must admit the curved hem isn’t easy to sew, but Anita @anitabydesign has a great sew-along tutorial for this pattern on her YouTube channel. My most recent make taught me that I actually do enjoy short dresses. I might make one or two more. Fabric is cotton poplin from @guthrieghani Pattern is McCall's 8030  Sewing machine @brothersews cs6000i (Lydia) Photo by @gothammatt Modifications  I made view A with view B collar and graded from a size medium at the bust and waist to a large at the hips. My buttonholer is on the fritz so I installed snaps with my Kam press. Proud to say that the fabric was only in my stash since March of this year. This is McCalls #m8030 and I made it out of a beautiful pink and white cotton chambray from @mandlfabricsanaheim It is a fairly easy and quick sew that I would highly recommend.
