Out exploring in my #v8805 for some reason I was really drawn to the whole explorer style/palette of late and so the khakis, olives, browns and creams have been speaking to me. (I haven't posted all my makes). This one was made up with the olive and brown I used for drapey tops and the cream that was to be a third drapey top that I decided not to proceed with. I added some length to the dress, but as it's in a jersey, it didn't need it, but would recommend a bit of length for a woven. My twin sister (AKA my fabric enabler) had gifted me a yard and a half of this gloriously soft Kokka double gauze she got at @sewhiptucson in Tucson, AZ, and I’ve been debating what to make from it for ages. ⁣ ⁣ Ultimately, I decided I really only had enough for a top, so I made #v8805, but cut the pattern at the waist and added a band to play with directionality and add some visual interest. A comment from my lovely sewing wife @sewlastminutelisa Yup I did & now we’re seeing some light at the end of the tunnel it’s spurred me on to make a few more ‘things’! The inspo for mixing these 2 prints was from @sewover50 This month they’re having a pattern mixing challenge, so I had a rummage in my stash and found these 2 pieces which ordinarily I wouldn’t have put together, but somehow the just work! There’s also a pic of this frock #vogue8805 which I last made 5 years ago. (Last pic). It’s a great dress if you’re measurements are a bit erratic like mine! There’s about 20lbs difference in me wearing it in the last pic, but it still fits well as it’s not snug around the waist, and also the stretch denim helps! And the pattern pieces come with different cup sizes! @sue13sews has also made this dress (2nd to last pic). We joined in #fffebruary - fabulous friends! Now I’m planning an outfit for a wedding in July. I’m thinking of making #vogue9082 as I’ve made it 3 times. The first time I made 3 toiles so I’m super happy with the fit. My very first #sewingbowlchallenge! 🤗. I watched diligently last year and decided to join in this time. So these were my picks from the options given. A simple color block Vogue dress (#v8805 ) with a cotton metallic knit. My attempt at an unfinished look is the bottom seam sewn to the outside, hope that qualifies. I had fun with this, it took me out of my comfort zone which is a good thing. I probably could have sized down but I’m still learning how to fit so this was a good learning experience.
