Finished off this top - the pocket placement was crazy high on me - a quick 15 min fix to unpick and restitch a bit lower. Glad I added a couple of inches to the length too. In this crisp cotton is lovely to wear on hot days, but there's a bit of underarm volume due to the wide dropped sleeve head. I'd like to try another in a drapier fabric, but thinking I may need to take some volume out by reducing the sleeve depth.. Which means that idea might end up in the too hard basket. One of my main concerns about this dress was the fact that the velvet is polyester. But I am pleased to say that with the addition of a silk slip, I’m not feeling covered in plastic. So that’s a relief! Has it changed my opinion of polyester? Not really. Finished. I hemmed the sleeves and skirt hem by hand because I didn’t want an obvious top-stitching line. Everything else went together with a machine and serger. Overall, I’m very pleased with how this turned out - I especially like that collar treatment. #sewing #knitfabric #v1907 #vogue1907

I am definitely ready for the weather to improve and for it to feel more like Spring. Considering all of that, I would expect to be wearing light colors, but all I seem to gravitate towards is black and other moody colors. And I am stuck on what to make next. I cut out a light colored coat about a month ago, but somewhere along the way I lost interest. And do I really want to make a wool coat in March? Is the addition of the waistband and the change to the sleeve obvious enough to make this version look significantly different than the sweater knit version? Not really. The sleeve cap on this is bananas but I wanted to see how it turned out so didn't change anything.... The instructions order is not the best but now that I'm working on it, if I make it again I can make it way easier for myself. Also, I do NOT agree on how they say to do the gathers for the cowel but that'll go into my pattern review diatribe lol. As far as those modifications go, the addition of the tie inserted into the underbust seam was very successful. I like the pointed sleeve hem, although I shortened the sleeve a bit too much and I wish it was just a bit longer. But overall, I like the garment a lot. It’s easy to wear, and I love the print! #V1907 complete! The fabric was from a mystery grab bag of fabric from @fabricmart and I think worked perfectly for this dress! I still definitely will decrease the sleeve cap next time but I'm surprised I don't hate how it looks on me. The main dress shape fits great- not too tight but still flattering. Pictures never look as good as it does in real life.
