Happy Wednesday! Today’s outfit is my first “matching set”. I have seen others make jumpsuit-like separates out of the same fabric and long been envious of the versatility! I decided to try it out by lengthening the crops of #s8175 view E to make them full length pants. I topped them with view c of #v9191. Both were quick sews (pants because I have sewn them many times before and already fitted them) which is always a bonus! I made both pieces out of 100% medium weight navy linen from @moodfabrics. While I really love the look and weight of this fabric, it bled like crazy all over my hands, my machine etc as I was sewing with it. I cooked the pants in boiling water on the stove with rit dye stabilizer which worked okay, but then noticed today they have made my waist blue as I am wearing them! I haven’t tried the stabilizer on the top yet as it rubs less, but for sure will soon! I have included some other styling pics as both pieces are super versatile and can be worn with much of my wardrobe! Capsule wardrobe here I come! Happy Friday all! I wanted to share one more view from #v9191 which I bought a while ago but am finally sewing up this summer. I just love this pattern! This is view E which is why I originally bought the pattern. I am absolutely in love with these pants. They are so incredibly cool and comfortable in the cotton double gauze I made these out of from @voguefabrics. I ended up making the size medium because the only place they are fitted is at the waist and mine is larger than the rest of me compliments of my three sons ;) I raised the front and back crotch 1 inch but shouldn’t have-I think these full legs should have a slightly dropped crotch. Next time! For sure there will be more of these in my future! They are a really easy sew and (I think!!) look glam on! Happy sewing Sunday! ….And happy summer vacation to me! Woot woot! School ended on Friday and Summer Kim is officially in residence (she is WAY more fun than school year Kim). This is my latest faux jumpsuit which I created out of a mashup of #v9191 (view E) and #v9109 (a modified version of view A). The fabric is a gorgeous rayon from @sewmuchfabric in Houston that I have had for years! I have only made these pants one other time out of a cotton gauze, and they are basically see through so I rarely wear them! I have already worn this version 3 times since I finished them a few weeks ago. They are super flowy and comfy. Perfect for summer! The only change I made this time was to add Velcro instead of a button closure on the front piece. This is sturdier and more adjustable which I love! The tank I have made countless times as I love the shoulder cut- so flattering! I made my own bias tape which takes some additional time, but really elevates the garment. I finished all the seams with French seams. I love making separates that can be worn both together and separately- so versatile! Hi all! Here are some pictures of the pants I made using vogue 9191. This is my wearable muslin using the lovely fabric gifted to me by my friend @_maggie_sews_ a few years ago. Thanks Maggie it worked perfect for this pant pattern. This pant pattern is perfect for summer as it is a wrap style. I think it work great for a beach or pool day. I wore it around the studio and home to see what needs to be changed the next time around. In my area it is always windy and the pants open up and show 🦵🏼🦵🏼. I don’t mind since I am home or will make the next ones for a beach trip. Figure I let you know incase you make them. I need to shorten the length. The ties from the front that wrap to the back came out short so I added length then I added to much 🤣🤣🤣. I then fixed it by adding snaps to hold it in place.
