Can I just say that whatever they did before seam rippers😒 was nothing short of absolute determination and perseverance. honestly, our fore-sewers were a bunch of straight-up bosses! That's all. ✂️ This is the last gift I will be talking about this year because... Christmas 🎄. I made this traditional mens shirt for a beautiful strapping young man🕺🏽. I'm old, so the word "young" is relative. 🤶🏿 This is a pattern I had in my stash from #vougepatterns #v8759. I decided to use snaps for easier access, and then I ran out of snaps, so I used buttons for the cuffs. The fabric is so interesting, it's from #fabricville and was listed as canvas (fine wale polyester corded canvas) but when I first got it I thought I'd bought the wrong thing because it felt like ripstop, then I washed it and that produced this buttery soft corduroy feel almost like a suede texture. The colour isn't exactly white, it's off white like a creamy colour, beautiful fabric. Very happy with this make. Final entry in the trilogy of teal sewing projects! This shirt is a #v8759 and arguably the most beautiful shirt I’ve ever made. The fabric is what really makes this shirt special. I’ve sewn this pattern up in corduroy before, but I think this soft, drapey cotton shirting suits the design better. Benji loves the fit of the #v8759 because of the vertical seams in the shirt back. I’ve looked quite a bit, and it seems to be the only men’s shirt pattern out the with these kinds of seams. It’s still January! Not too late for a Make Nine 2022 yet! Right?! Have you ever had a theme for your #makenine ? This year I’m trying something different and only including projects for my husband in my make nine plans. I figure I’m going to sew for myself no matter what, but having definite plans will mean at least SOME of these projects will actually get sewn this year! Sewing challenge 2023. JULY: Man’s button up shirt. This month I ventured into the realms of menswear for the first time since I made a waistcoat for @chrstphr._ a very long time ago! And for this, I took advantage of the fact it was Ben’s birthday month and decided it would be his birthday present 🎁 I really enjoyed making this shirt, it was nowhere near as difficult as I expected it to be - the collar and collar stand required some extra attention and buttonholes always cause a little bit of swearing, but no disasters this time! I used a bottle green poplin cotton and accented with dark grey poplin for the collar and cuffs (both from @poundfabrics ) and green buttons. Finished shirt for my friends birthday present. Find it increasingly difficult to give thoughtful, useful gifts for people. So ended up making a little word document for him to pick the shirt pattern and pick a fabric. He selected #voguepatterns #v8759. Luckily he is the same size for this pattern; I just needed to lengthen it a lot! He also picked the bicycles fabric from a selection of black fabrics I thought he might like which were available at @myfabricology Very pleased with how this came together. When @berniegraham8 retired from his engineering job he transferred his penchant for precision and detail to sewing clothing for himself. One more in a mad flannel spree. Never have I been pestered so much to finish this quilted flannel shirt. Is it done? Is it done? Is it done? but it is wonderful to be so appreciated by @miles.from_nowhere. The fabric is the Robert Kaufman Durango flannel from @boltfabricpdx. Since the fabric itself is so thick, I used a #libertyoflondon from @josephinesdrygoods for the collar stand and the continuous lap on the quilted lining. I found this phenomenal quilted lining (3M thinsulate, no less!) at @millendstore. The printed ducks and hunters with rifles shall give him the requisite street cred should he attempt to infiltrate NRA meetings, or attend a live recording of the duck dynasty. The pattern is #v8759
