I've recently finished sewing these jeans which are #vogue1644 and am very pleased with this first attempt. I sewed a size 10 and took an inch off the length of the leg and half an inch out of the crutch depth. Please look at my profile for details of my personal measurements. They are still extremely high waisted on me, but less so on my daughter who has tried them on and wants 3 pairs for Christmas! I found the pattern quite detailed and well explained, but probably not for a beginner. Also I think there are a couple of errors, both in relation to the waistband, although anyone who just skims the instructions probably wouldn't notice. Channeling big trouser energy in #Vogue1644 pants. The pattern’s envelope cover doesn’t do justice to these beautifully drafted, high-waisted wide leg trousers with jeans design elements. I used 12 oz Japanese non-stretch crosshatch denim from @BlackbirdFabrics. . Pattern notes: I didn’t make a toile, but just cut the size recommended for my hip measurement (which is size 14) and made my usual pants adjustments — a slight flat seat adjustment, and graded out to a larger size at the waist. I love the deep angled pockets, the long wide lines of the leg with the fitted high waist, and the way the belt carriers are sewn into the seam between the trousers and waistband. My only gripe is that I would have preferred the simpler method of constructing a zipper fly with the fly facing integrally part of the front leg pieces rather than cut out as separate pieces as directed by the pattern, but that’s easy to change for next time. . I constructed these trousers using my Babylock sewing & embroidery machine (Sofia, now discontinued) with a jeans needle and stitch speed set to SLOW for top-stitching, and a lot of manual hand cranking of the wheel to coax the needle through the parts with multiple layers. I hand basted the fly, waistband and hem, before running them through the sewing machine so that I could focus my attention on coaxing the material through and getting as even a stitch as possible, without having to worry about any fabric shifting out of place. . A Good Match! My top selling #v1644 embroidered wax cotton jacket. I draped this design, with a side body panel and lovely back shaping. The two piece sleeve is bracelet length. The jacket is unlined and closes with large snaps/press studs. Swipe through to view seam matching and the perfectly hung sleeve, which was set by hand. A very nice Vogue pattern that I bought a few months ago - #V1644 by @kathrynbrenneoriginal It also includes a pair of pants which I intend to make later. I did my frequent trick of using a fabric that was rather thick and unusually constructed, and therefore not easy to sew with! But it was worth the difficulty as the fabric does have a lovely colour and texture. It’s a Malhia Kent sample that I got for just €2 from @latextilerieparis ! There was less than a metre of it but I somehow managed to squeeze all the pattern pieces out of it, make enough bias tape for the bottom hem and inside facings, and still have a little bit left! So many projects, so little time. I'm about to try the @ithacamaven fitting technique using #v1644. As soon as I read her post about 'the crotch is just a line' years of frustration flew out the window. And simultaneously I think I will drape something similar to this Rachel Comey top. It exists as #v1704 but I want to make the bodice more A-line, add a front zip, and widen the ends of the sleeves just a teensy bit. Made out of wind or waterproof fabric it would be great for our drizzly days.

#memademay2022 and the Human has made a top very similar to the one she wore in elementary school. That said, it solved the Liberty print problem (do we see screaming muppets, or Megamind?) Also, the Human spent two days trying to figure out the elastic thread but reverted to zigzagging narrow elastic. Themz the breaks.
