Slow progress today altering #V1992 for my classic French jacket. I always shorten sleeves by 2" so I've distributed that above and below the elbow of the 3 part sleeve. My quandary is always about how to shorten the nape to waist at the back without shortening the front because I need the length to go over my bust. I often do a sway back adjustment, but that will skew my checked fabric. I've shortened the back piece 1", the side back by a bit less and left the front panels the original length. I'll add the length back at the hem of the 2 pieces I've shortened. The toile will be in a woven gingham so I can see that the checks are horizontal/vertical and I'll cut wider seam allowances. I've started fitting the toile for my classic French jacket #v1992. I used gingham so I could be sure the checks are lying correctly. I'm happy with the front, but po during the drag lines on the back. Some of them are due to my right dropped shoulder and its a tad tight over the hips across the back. I've already made quite a big alteration to the upper back as the pattern seemed to be drafted with a significant upper back curve.... I might have straightened it too much. I'm moving on to toile number 2. I'll incorporate the current alterations and cut bigger seam allowances. Probably put I zip in the CF of that one so I don't need to keep pinning myself into it! Hill of Grace 1992 - the winery flagship wine aged 29 years in perfect cellared and unchanged condition. . Colour - Deep Mahogany brown hue with vermilion red depth. . Aroma - musk & cooler floral (violets) with vanilla and ripe blackcurrants. . Taste - sweet ripe cherries, blackcurrant and plum with a backbone of menthol and minerality with acididity that should hold this wine still as a great drinker for another 5 years. . Atze's Corner "Rare Black" 2017 Cabernet Sauvignon. . Ancient soils of this beautiful single site vineyard in Barossa's northern Ebenezer region. Similar soils and terroir of the famed Penfolds Block 42. . Colour - black crimson, dark as a moonless midnight! . Aromas - big blackberry, ripe black cherry and cigar. . In ya face Cabernet herbal flavours perfectly blended with oakiness and rich black fruits of the orchard. . Loved it now, loved it more after 1 hr of decanting and most likely even better in 10 years time. . What a lovely example of a great Cabernet from the Barossa Region. .
