Day 24 @blkmakersmatter - First post on my feed today was the spectacular Ankara make by @seams_i_sew & my first thought was “Oh that’s beautiful but where’s her mask!” Why was I looking for a mask??? Well, not for the obvious reason (COVID 19 has disproportionately affected our communities)...BUT I need new eyewear so I read the prompt as “Share your colorful Ankara mask” 😂🤣😂—so, yeah, I was perplexed yesterday by 2 things: 1) That grand jury decision 😩#sayhernamebreonnataylor and 2) Why was this challenge just a mask?🥺My unnecessary plan for the challenge— use the opportunity to share a matching outfit!🤔...so I made 3 masks last night to match whichever Ankara make I was feeling today!😅😂🤣 That was so Wrong!! Doing my very best BRUCE impersonation apart from that no #memadecharades I actually have made this top in May. @vintagetina warned me about the back zip and I received helpful hints for the future about side zips, thank you everyone. In the end I used these buttons from an old Top Shop cardigan that I loved, I could not get it on (whoops T. Rex) going to repair it for my daughter with new buttons. However, these jeans were always too big, every cloud eh? I bought the cotton in India, I had less than a metre, I love this fabric. The facings are orange turban voile. A simple but versatile top using a fabric remnant from my stash , a hand made brooch, and a little #sewingfail . This pattern(view D) includes an open ended zip at the back . (How hard would that be, to do up ?!) So I changed it for buttons and added a placket, but it is not wide enough, so it doesn't look right. Such a tiny detail to contend with... Hand stitched hook done with waxed thread. A bit of a warm-up on muslin scrap before applying hook and eye to my couture top. It’s worth the bother! It’s so nice to be out in a mall today! First venture out in a mall setting since February… and finally get a chance to wear my abstract linen couture ensemble from which the top was completed last fall. A few detail photos of my recent work from a vintage sixties Vogue pattern #v9187. Using couture methods to work this piece, this pattern was slightly amended at the hemline to suit my own taste and to modernize the design. The belt treatment is inspired by the dress designs of Courreges’s work from the sixties. In planning this work, this top was made to wear with a couture skirt of the same fabric where I wanted to create a sheath-like effect as a whole ensemble. It will also be great to wear these pieces separately in combination with other works I have planned. Bonjour! Wearing my me-mades on holiday in France. This bronze top is a repeat of the last one. It's a gorgeous luxury cotton with velvet textured bits! Another seasonably inappropriate make! Completed another make from #makenine2019 the vogue #v9187 top. Made from a remnant from a dress I made last year. Now I just need the weather to warm up so I can wear it!

Well lovely sewers enough make in the bag, my royal blue cigarette pants in ponte roma gifted to me by @minervadotcom which was gifted to me to go with the top made from 1960s reissued pattern by Vogue 9187 I made previously from Bali rayon cotton fabric also gifted to me by @minervadotcom This ponte is a perfect weight for trousers and I would think it will wear well. I used @gertie18 pattern on patreon for the ‘Audrey cigarette pants’ which are fitted and high waisted, i do love a high waist these days. I made these previously in a black ponte roma i had in my stash that i bought from somewhere else in the past, I made a size 10 which were too big and i had to adjust the side seams smaller, so this time i made an 8 but this fabric must have less give or i got bigger because i probably should of done the 10, oh well back on the Joe Wickes plan for me lol!
