So. I finished my latest 2 makes which are basically a loungewear set. I’ve been wanting to make this for a year now, but it’s sometimes hard to find the time. I am incredibly happy with how the trousers turned out, but this colour and fabric somehow is not to my liking with this particular top design. I’ve still got about a metre left, so might make another top to go with the bottoms. The patterns I used were: #jarrahsweater for the top and #v1929 The fabric was bought from Italy from @aziendatessileromana . They are a massive fabric shop close to the city centre. The only drawback I have about the fabric is that it’s pilling so quick. I barely wore the jumper twice and it’s already very bobbly. 3 dresses I made this recently past winter lol. As we are just starting spring I wanted to highlight some of the dresses I made. I had a period of time when I didn’t make many dresses, but I guess I was on a roll with dress making recently. I was just so inspired to make these dresses that I couldn’t resist 😍. So taking a step back here is the finished #v1929 dress ❤️❤️. This project was going to be a quick sew but alas I have given up on making things quickly because in most cases I have to make some type of adjustment. The adjustment for this project was in the hip area. I actually cut it out and with my first fitting realized the hip circumference was to small 😬. Normally when this happens it takes me a few days and playing around with different scenarios before I figure out what to do lol. Also my sewing friend @experimental_sewist helped me with trouble shooting. Making a gusset was the missing puzzle piece. If you run into the issue of cutting something out to small you can add a gusset to that area to add more fabric. Thank goodness I had enough fabric to add this feature ❤️❤️. This dress is so incredibly comfortable like can I wear it everyday 😂. Super easy Vogue dress with great results. #V1929 took about 1.5 hours to sew. I love this dress. I didn't make a lot of adjustments to show. But I did a little tacking the drape together where to shoulder is. I want to wear it to church. So, no off the shoulder. Also, I omitted to lower sleeves. I think this is a great alternative. A few simple tweets as I sew it together. I love how it turned out. The perils of sewing, well, to me, is that I struggle to find the time to post. If I don’t share my makes straight away, then the chances are it will be a LONG time before anyone sees them. That being said, I’m sharing one of my favourite patterns Vogue #1929. It was one of last year’s #sewyourview patterns and I had to wait a good few months for it to be launched here in the UK. The first version was made in a silver knit lurex fabric which was easy to work with and I loved the outcome. Although, I had to remove approximately four inches at each seam because it was so big. I sized down when making the second which was made in an animal print (what else) which also had some lurex running through. The dress I made for DC Frocktails is Vogue pattern #v1929 by @carlosvoguepatterns . It was a quick and easy sew and has been on my to do list ever since it was part of @sewyourview in November 2022. The only mod that I made was cutting the fabric against grain on the left front/ back and arm pieces to give it a different look with the stripe design in the sweater knit fabric going in both a horizontal and vertical direction. I also love this handbag I made #TT_MagBag by @thalias__threads . I added a handle to the side to hold as a clutch. MMM day 20: on a weekend quest to make the perfect pair of sweater pants. These blue waffle knit shorties were my wearable toile for the vogue pattern #v1929. Just finished a full length pair in a soft sweater knit fabric and I’m excited to share those soon. Also wearing a self-drafted sweatshirt (using the #wikstenshifttop as a rough guide). Me Made May 7 - Catching up today. I used two different patterns to complete this comfy outfit. The tunic is Vogue #v1914 and the pants are #v1929. I especially like the tunic because of the unique style lines, the slight drape at the neckline, the drape at the side back ( that looks like a scraf), and the uneven hem. It is important to transfer all markings because the design lines are not the typical front, back, and sleeve. For this outfit, I like the pants of #v1929 for the flare leg. Today’s featured sewists are Nikki (@thesewingprincipal) and Kikki (@2craftytwinchicks) from McKinney, Texas (USA). We grew up watching our mom sew for family and friends, and our dad reupholster furniture. Our dad first taught us how to create quilt blocks from old scraps. That was his way of keeping us busy during school breaks. It wasn’t until ten years ago that we started developing a love for sewing our own clothes. We love fabric shopping and going to Joanns, where we sit at a table, go through patterns, all while discussing fabric and notions. Our time at Joanns takes us back to pattern and fabric shopping with our mom at the old Krauss Department Store on Canal Street in New Orleans. Although we are twins, we are individuals when it comes to sewing. Kikki loves to hack and add embellishments to her garments, to create a unique look; and Nikki likes to maximize her time by sewing clothes that can transition from workwear to an evening of cocktails with friends. We have been following the @SewOver50 page for awhile. We are inspired by how Sewover50 showcases the differences we share as sewists and at the same time promoting that age is just a number. This is one of the reasons that Kikki and Nikki, along with 2 like-minded sewists founded @SewrorityWear. We wanted to create an inclusive community where sewists of all ages, races, etc. could come together, through a shared bond of sewing. Sewrority Wear not only sells paraphernalia, but we also host retreats, online sewing, and various events and activities. We (Kikki and Nikki) have also been featured in @SewnMagazine and plan to offer sewing and crafting classes in the Dallas-Fort Worth area this fall. We are also launching a blog that showcases all things sewing and crafting by the end of the month...so, stay tuned. I made a cozy dress for the fall using Vogue #v1929 #r11631. I purchased a mystery box of fabric so I could get a lot of fabric for cheap to practice with and in it was this purple sweater fleece. I'm making this again but in a beautiful olive fleece that will arrive in the mail from @theconfidentstitch. I made a few changes to the pattern: shortened the waist line, graded from a size 10 in bust to 12 in hips, shortened by about 10". I'm petite so long dresses aren't that flattering on me. Shortened the sleeves 1/4" and tightened them by 2". I also got to sew all this on my brand new (to me) 33 year old Bernina that my mom just scored on Facebook! Thanks mom! It's the best early Christmas present ever!!! It was like sewing through the clouds.

This Charleston Sweater Knit just stocked over @milymaefabrics yesterday, and the Spring color options are enough to brighten even the coldest winter days. It's lightweight and airy with great drape and stretch. I used it to finally sew Vogue #V1929, and I'm really happy with how it turned out.
