Popping on today for a little sewing news update. #ootd is this #v1698 I made a couple of months ago. Here’re a few words of warning if you’re making this. 1. This is a fabric eating dress. I had 3m of this cotton poplin from @sacres_coupons and I used every last scrap of it and because the stripe pattern is irregular, I wasn’t able to achieve pattern symmetry in the dress. This doesn’t bother me, but if it bothers you, factor in at least another half to one more metre of fabric consumption depending on the size you’re making. 2. The instructions to make this are good and the front placket was straight forward to do but I was a bit careless in step one, and regretted it later. I’d suggest marking in your seam line before you reinforce the bottom corners of the placket and snip to the corners to avoid overstepping your seam line when you cut like I did. I recovered by increasing the size of my placket attaching seams but it made a small pleat of excess fabric on the bottom corner. This isn’t visible really in this loud print but on a plain fabric, would be more noticeable. I really like this twist on a shirtdress. It’s the perfect coverup for the hot and humid weather we’ve been having. It’s fun to make too especially at the end when you sew 2 giant pieces together from front to back.
