I obviously wanted to wear sparkles for Taylor swift. I bought this glorious fabric from a coupon shop in Paris. I liked the look of the t-shirt dress Taylor wears for lavender haze, so I decided to emulate that. A little impossible to capture the details on camera...black on black I have had this pattern for quite a while, #vogue9237,  and am happy to finally sew this. This pattern fits the bill of what I need for Spring.  I do not own anything with short sleeves (other than one RTW knit sweater! ). Crazy isn't it!.....no sleeve, long sleeve and 3/4 sleeve fills my wardrobe.  I suppose the time has come (ie. old age) to start adding short sleeves rather than sleeveless....although I love sleeveless. The fabric is a woven cotton jacquard.  Although there is a pattern on the fabric, I decided to add a bit of interest by adding a lion machine embroidery design to the front.  I used all black for a tone on tone effect. I added  tiny black crystal beads to the eyes (and one more crystal bead with a thread chain loop for the back closure). hello! it's been a while! since giving up on posting during me made may, i moved cities, started a new job and pretty much overhauled my whole life. saturn return kicking my ass. i did have six weeks away from all my sewing gear while we moved, but since then i've been prolific, though not always successful. this is the first thing i've been truly pleased with off the bat. and this is me in my new garden, about to go watch the south eastern football league grand final... how quickly the night changes etc etc. deets: #v9237 in lovely @seeyouatsixfabric viscose from @maaidesign. straight off the bat i took 1.5" from the length and raised the armhole 5/8", and shaved a smidge off the shoulder slope, always too steep for me in vogue patterns. i'd lower the neckline a little for the next one but overall i'm stoked.

#memademay2025 Day 13 We left the ranch for errands today, but we didn’t get good pictures until we were driving back in. Suddenly it is VERY hot in Texas, and this dress kept me cool. This is Vogue 9237, a simple shift dress with a gathered surprise in the back. I lowered the neckline slightly, but otherwise this pattern is perfect - an easy sew that provides lots of opportunity for fun fabrics. This is the Vogue #v9237 which I made back in December during vlogmas ❤️💚 I had this on my #makenine2024 list and so just got in there in time! It is a trapeze style dress so it is a lovely quick sew. The back has a ruffle tier which gives a really nice detail. I particularly like that I can wear it loose for a flowy fit which will be perfect in the summer ☀️ or pop a belt on and team up with tights and a cardi for the cooler time of year. I decided to size down on my measurements thinking as it was an oversized pattern it would be ok but I did find that it is a little snug across the top of the chest so if I make another one I’ll stick with my true size…. Lesson learned! One Make 2 for 2025 but first 1 on the grid Make 1 of my #makeninex2 #makenine2025 This was meant to be a bit of a quick easy dress after a more involved and attention to detail make, however, not as quick and easy as I had hoped. I have really liked the look of this pattern and how it seems to be a very simple shift dress but it’s not as plain as it seems. It took me a little while though to find the right fabrics to pair with the pattern. I am really happy with how well the fabrics match one another and also the pattern. Sewing this dress was straight forward as I’d hoped, however, on finishing the dress the neckline felt too high and didn’t look quite right. So I took scissors to the neckline and lowered it, redid the bias binding and I am much happier with it. I am still debating going back and adjusting the armsyce, but I’ll see how it feels after wearing it for a little while. Unpicking bias binding isn’t fun and I’d need to make more binding. Hurrah! I’ve been waiting for the sun to arrive. It’s an essential for a new #memade white sun dress. Despite all the dire warnings about Vogue 9237, I stubbornly went ahead with using it and this is how it turned out, after significant adjustments. In summary, I had to lower the neckline by 2cm, make the armholes 1cm deeper, take about 7cm off the width at each shoulder (!) and I also chose to lengthen it by about 6cm. I also wasn't a fan of the back closure method and would do this differently next time. Time to start posting my passions again 🧵🪡🧶 What better way to kick things off than with a #memade! This Vogue #V9237 has been in the stash for a while, but not being sure of sizing I decided to make a toile from polycotton I picked up at @needlecrafthemelhempstead Such an easy pattern (with pockets!!!) that I hacked with the flutter shoulders. To make this pattern work for me, I narrowed the shoulders, sewed the back on the fold - not sure this has worked for me as the additional ease made the back a little gapey and lined it so there was no need for bias to finish the edges. Mullet dress! This is the #v9237 by @simplicitymccallsuk, and it is very much business in the front, party in the back 😆 I'm obsessed at the moment with this plain neckline/short sleeves combo (see also my many V9075s) so when I spotted this in the @thefoldline sale, I snapped it up. With no zips or buttonholes, it's a delightfully quick sew! The only tricky bit was the sleeves, which I struggled to set in without puckers- might trim the sleeve head slightly next time? I chose the size according to my bust measurement and added a load of length for #SewingTall. Unfortunately not enough, and I had to do a single-fold micro-hem. Next time I'll add an inch, and also redistribute some of the length in the back so that the ruffle is shorter. I lengthened the ruffle but in doing so I think I've knocked the proportions of the dress off a little. I'll also lower the pockets by an inch. Speaking of pockets, I used my enormo-pocket pattern for guaranteed pleasure and practicality, and my only other mod was to swap the button for a lazy-girl hook & eye. The fabric is linen from an ebay destash. The way it drapes gives me SUCH FEELINGS ❤️ Also I'm considering making another version of this dress without the ruffle just to really highlight that gorgeous clean A-line shape. Ob-sessed. But I love the ruffle too and its fun element of surprise! Overall, I'm mega chuffed with this.
