Here is my latest make. Especially for those undecided about jumpsuits!!!😅 it looks great sitting down as well as standing especially in this satin. I made sure the elastic wasn’t too tight around the ankle so it felt super comfy. I’ve made this especially for our wedding anniversary. 🥰 The fabric is a lovely oriental pattern satin which I got from @leonsfabrics_mcr because I fell in love with it. And, it was great to sew!!! The pattern is view A from #vogue #V1851 I made a small in the bodice grading out to a medium at the waist and kept to a medium at the hips. The rise I cut to a medium on the front and a large on the back as I have a plump bot. 💪🏽 I really enjoyed this make. Could probably have got away with a shorter zipper that finished just above the elasticated waist. From @sewnonthemap , a fantastic #V1851 jumpsuit sewn from our Mind the Maker viscose twill 'about a dot' in dark teal. The sewist says, "A few things on my jumpsuit, I shortened and widened the end of the sleeve so they end above the elbow, using a band cuff instead of elastic. Most importantly, I shortened the zipper so it runs from about an inch above the elastic waistband to the center back neckline. I have no trouble getting in and out of the pants portion with the elastic waist. I cut off three inches from the bottom of the pant legs before I hemmed with a generous three inch plus 1 inch turned under hem. I really love this pattern!" They're back! . Japanese cupro jacquard has returned, this time including a deep French Navy. I made my #bluemountainsfrocktails jumpsuit (#v1851) from this, and the remainder quickly sold. A lot of people discovered on the night what a stunning fibre cupro is. Made from the stalks of the cotton plant once the flowers have been harvested, it always has a stunning drape and hand feel, reminiscent of silk. . This jacquard also has an almost suede like feel. It is breathable, light, and luxurious to wear . I used our Navy Jacquard ➡️➡️ to see a blooper from the night, but which shows the truest colour. The French Navy is true in the product pic . Part of the pants suits brigade at #sydneyfrocktails2023 (thanks to mr@usefulbox for the official photo). My first Frocktails and I can see that it’s going to be an ongoing addiction! What started out as a jumpsuit #V1851 ended up being the palazzo pants only with an elasticated waist added and an old TNT Vogue shell top from the 90s with a cute fringe to zhoojzh it up. Thankfully I started four weeks ago so when the original jumpsuit top just didn’t work I had time to develop Plan B and finished with two weeks to spare. On the other hand, I understand from discussions with other fabulously attired attendees that it’s also perfectly acceptable to be finishing off seams in the train on the way in to the venue. I have been turning my mind off to challenges because I don’t have much time to sew, and I want to use that time to sew what is in my queue. But serendipity was in place for the #sewajumpsuitchallenge This one is a toile made with two thrifted curtain panels. But I love it so and plan to make it again right away with the special fabric. It is Vogue #v1851 view B. Adjustments: I made it shortsleeved and shortened the zipper opening (from 22 to 14 inches) so it only opens the upper back 1.5 inches above the elastic waist. This is a significant improvement over the pattern as is for two reasons. Sewing an invisible zipper to an elastic waist with seamed casing is a fool’s errand, often leading to broken zippers and profanity. Further, it is far easier to use the loo when you don’t have all that fabric flapping about that a secure elastic waist will keep in check. It is easy to get in and out of without the longer zipper, too. Thank you @sewuthinkucan @slowsewed and all the partners. It has been fun to follow this challenge.
