Finished my 2nd muslin for @charlottefrocktails! I did not bother hemming or taking out all the red basting stitches nor bother with putting in the button holes yet (however, I will practice the handfinished buttonholes on this version). I had to do a rounded upper back adjustment, forward shoulder adjustment, bicep adjustment, FBA, had to add bust darts after the FBA, and I added 4 inches to the length just so the jacket would hit at my upper hip. I love the 1950s vibe of this jacket (w/o the bow). #V1831 Some lessons learned: 1. Muslin #1 truly was made from muslin. Therefore, the muslin #2, where I used a brocade-type fabric to mimic my brocade I will be using for the real outfit, fit very different than the muslin. Muslin #2 is definitely a bit tight in the armholes. 2. I catch-stitched the edges of the inverted pleat, to the interlining because I did not like the way the pleat kept swinging open. That made the jacket more restictive in movement ease so the final jacket will not have the pleat stitched to the jacket. 3. HAND BASTING IS THE WAY TO GO! WOW! I cannot believe how much quicker it was to set the sleeves. Usually even when I machine baste sleeves (basting the ease stitching and basting the setting in part) they are not as perfect. Hand basting took minutes without any fussy fiddling at the machine. Then sewing them after setting them was the easiest I have ever done sleeves. Hand basting from now on. 4. Hand stitching delicate and tricky areas is much easier to me. My corners came out as perfect points on the first try. 5. I LOVE the way interlining makes the jacket "hang." It is easy and I think I will do it for all my dress jackets, fitted bodice dresses, and skirts from now on. 6. I am always sized as a 22 accirding to the big 5 but I almost always have to make a size 16 then a FBA, etc. Thjs time though, the armholes are a bit gight but I do not have time to make anothet muslin so I am just going to deal with them tight. Thwy don't look tight at all but they feel tight to me. So lesson here is to not necessarily go by the size on the big 5 packages. Go by finished measurements.

Change of plans for my Christmas outfit. Again. Thanks to Lindsey's from @insidethehem YouTube posts of 30 days of Christmas inspiration, I changed my mind. I had #V2023 pattern of which I am using that rose jacquard fabric to make the inspiration dress and opera coat (the ones in the blue floral brocade). I am using the same @Vogue pattern #V1831 I used for my frocktails. I am lengthening it and making a big oversized collar like the inspiration. The back of the inspiration has a yoke with slight gathers at the botyom of the yoke so I am going to not put the lleat in the back of my jacket and instead with gather just like the inspiration.
